Thankfully we had Sir Mitch Marsh!!
Already vindicated his selection over Head this test.

Re: The Ashes 2019
Unpopular opinion.
I like Mitch Marsh, he gets it, he knows how lucky he is, he gets that Australia bag the crap out of him, he knows he hasn't made the opportunities count.
What's he meant to do, say sorry selectors you've picked me but tbh I don't want to give it another crack.
I don't think he will ever make it at test level but if he did I would be extremely happy for the bloke. It takes a lot to stay committed and keep coming back.

Re: The Ashes 2019
Poor last hour by the Australian bowlers, bowled some real tripe, almost as though they didnt want to get the last couple of wickets and have a hit

I don't like the continual selection of Marsh but I want every guy who wears the Baggy Green to succeed so I'm glad he took four wickets last night. We really need him to step up and become the cricketer that Cricket Australia thinks he can be. Look how much difference Stokes has made for England. Arguably, we'd be four up if they didn't have him.

I have to agree, we all know what he is capable of but it's just not often enough.
I don't know why they dropped Starc for Siddle, having the extra pace bowler (Marsh) would have benefited more with a left armer, if you're facing Hazelwood and Cummins for a while and then along comes Siddle, I don't think you'll struggle too much.
I was calling for Lyon to be dropped too pre-game, 4 overs suggest he should've been.
Warner
Harris
Labersomething
Smith
Head
Wade
M.Marsh
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood

Yeah I've been heaps critical of Starc lately and tbh think Starc days are numbered especially considering reverse swing seems to have left the game of cricket. But I definitely would have had him in ahead of Siddle.
The only thing I can think of is that they were desperate not to rest Cummins or Hazelwood so gave them as much protection as possible with a fifth bowler and then a workhorse bowler.
The only other reason is judging by the fact they chose to bowl first they thought the pitch would seem around a lot more therefore making Siddle more effective. It could simply be a case of them misjudging the pitch.

Re: The Ashes 2019
Australia's over rate was a disgrace.
82 over in 6.5 hours, no weather interruptions, not extreme heat, no significant injury interruptions and not being belted all over the park.
All countires do it, ICC are gutless

Makes even less sense why Lyon didn’t bowl more.

It's up to the umpires to keep play moving.
They need to stop the physio coming out for every blow, they need to tell the batsman "Your gloves are 5 overs old, you don't need new ones" and they need to tell the fielding captain to get a move on between overs.
I agree with you, but the umpires are in control of the game.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
If you want to go far, go together.

What is it? 30 overs per session, 15 overs per hour?
How hard is that?!

They did take 8 wickets and most probably a review or 2.....FlyingHigh wrote:Australia's over rate was a disgrace.

^ This, sh1ts me to the back teeth!
Cricket in general is struggling to keep people interested and then they go and do this. They should be made to either 1, keep playing till they bowl 90 or come back the next day, early and start bowling the extra 7 overs they missed the day before.

There were a couple reviews but not many and 8 wickets isn't excessive.
Even making provision for these, should have 60 overs bowled in 6 hours and five minutes

And throwing the ball back to the keeper after it's been hit to mid on.

Keep playing.
I paid for a days cricket, 90 overs, I don't want 91% of what I paid for.
