The last 3 premiership coaches were all rookie coaches

Simpson
Hardwick
Doogies coach

I personally would want sam mitchell as coach with an experienced former coach as an assistant

Players need a fun young dude to connect with but also someone who is intimidating and youll fear letting down, sam is modern day leigh matthews imo

That was Mark Harvey and Matty Primus' problems, they were too "matey" with the playing group, Leppitch probably falls into this category too.

There's only two options IMO, Ratten or Brad Scott, preferably Ratten, someone that bleeds navy blue, has a point to prove, is tough as nails and is well respected at the club, if he got the role he'd call it on his terms and that would sort all the BS off field, Brad Scott would be better suited having a bit of time away from the game to develop the passion again, there will be more roles opening up by 2021.

So who will actually coach Carlton next year
Adel - Pyke (no thanks)
Bris - Fagan (no chance)
Carl - Teague (wins 5 or 6 on way home he'll probably get it)
Coll - Buckley (no chance)
Ess - Worsfold (no thanks)
Fre - Lyon (think we will make him a good offer - not a bad option i think)
Gee - Scott (no chance)
GWS - Cameron (no chance, maybe SOS will recruit their NEAFL coach)
GC - Dew (would be good but no chance)
Haw - Clarkson (perfect but no chance)
Mel - Goodwin (no chance and no thanks)
NM - Shaw (very unlikely)
Port - Hinkley (think he's gettable but don't want him)
Rich - Hardwick (no chance)
StK - Richardson (no thanks)
Syd - Longmire (no chance - if leaves will go to NM)
WB - Beveridge (think he stays at Bulldogs)
WCE - Simpson (no chance)

Other Options
Mitchell
Caracella
Camporeale
Voss
B Scott
Roos
David Noble is also a possibility
Ratten

Think we will throw big money at Roos (with maybe Mitchell as next coach like did with Goodwin/Longmire) and Ross Lyon but end up with Brad Scott

Sounds good in theory but I don't think Roos would have his heart fully in it, I'm not sold the Melbourne experiment was a successful one.

That’s just to get Carlton to up their price.
I hope we don’t go after him though.

He’s had his time.

I know it’s unlikely, and there’s a gulf of difference between AFL and SANFL, but Norwood we’re in almost the same position Carlton now is when Bassett took us over. Could do worse imho.

I don’t know how wealthy Carlton are these days, but they’d be mad (if affordable) not to throw a huge offer in front of Clarkson and at least find out.

Good to see the blues have moved on from the 70's, 80's and 90's when they just threw cash at stuff to solve problems!

Listening to SEN last week there were numerous callers from Melb calling for the brown paper bags to come out again and for the salary cap to be abolished!

That might help them get the cash to afford a Clarkson or similar but it is still included in the soft cap. Spend big on a head coach means less money to spend on good development coaches etc. Carlton need all the help they can get in this area at the moment.

Also those mentioning that if Teague wins a few games he will get the gig... When was the last time an interim coach got the full time gig? They are clearly part of the problem as well. Might be slightly different with the Shaw/Scott scenario but in this instance Teague can't be looked at too favourably.

So what do we do now? I hear people say we have a sh1t list or a great list that any coach would want. Discussions with moving on SOS are just ridiculous.

Given we need an experienced coach but any coach that comes in will have pick 12ish to start with.

I think Lagoudice needs to go now. It really pisses me off that we get half way through a plan and become impatient and then in one day, 5 years of planning gets turned on their heads.

Bolts, what a great bloke. I saw the presser. At the end, when he got up to leave he said "thanks Prez". What a legend. All the best to him, hopefully he gets an assistant role at a decent club.

Hang on, LaGiudice said they're sticking to the path they've gone down in yesterday's presser ( not that they have any choice to be honest ) but it's not with Bolton.

Don't expect things to get better any time soon.

Who Carlton has brought in :

The kids we've brought in are fine. And I have no problem with bringing in other teams players if they were 'low' picks or trades where 1 player was traded for 3. As I've stated before, we had zero depth at the time. To get depth we needed to bring in groups of players. Remembering we 'delisted' Garlett. We lost through FA Waite (and got zero return - and I mean zero!) The AFL determined his age and the contract he was going to be on at North wasn't worthy of any return. We delisted Robinson. We pretty much swapped Thomas for Betts and so it goes on.....

Going back to the plan..... I've heard that before from the board. This was 'be patient, we need time' plan. Well obviously the board ran out of patience, so now we're looking for immediate improvement/success. What does that mean for the list under the new coach - who will no doubt bring in his own assistants? I really don't know where to from here with this board. If they are looking at a Hinkley, Lyon etc, why the hell would they leave their existing gigs, given the board have jettisoned three coaches out in 7 years and effectively ended three coaches careers in the process?

Brisbane, Dogs, Suns, Demons, Cows and Saints all at home still to play, Sydney away.

Highly unlikely but could snag a few.
