Didn't Hamley play a suspended player regardless a few years back? Cost them a final that year perhaps?

Yeah that was not a points thing. That was Kirk Heberle being suspended for not playing Landmark Cup.

Apparently there was only 12 at association training last night.
5 two wells
4 hummocks
1 angle vale
1 balak
1 hamley
Held at mallala and none of them rolled up.
It’s abit of a joke really.

Reckon four training sessions is a bit keen. Think two or three would be enough.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
The U14 & U17 numbers of Hamley & United has got to be a real concern for the league. Both have roughly 10 for each grade, which surely isn’t sustainable

Another 12 games and that’s the end of Hamley in the APFL!

Not official but enough is enough! Bring back the bye and save the league from the embarrassment!

It must be tough for the players and volunteers. Would this be the end of the club? Doesn't look like anyone that would be willing to merge in the local area but I am not expert on these clubs?

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Hoping they fold is a little small minded IMO. I hope they keep sticking it out, small country towns rely on footy and netball clubs for not just sporting opportunity but social opportunities , together with the value of bringing an extra 400 people to a small town on a Saturday is surely higher than the embarrassment you feel for the league after winning by 40 goal against players and volunteers who rock up week after week to support their club knowing full well the chance of winning is slim. I’m not sure that lengths the association and Community Football League are going to to support these struggling clubs by way of training in club management, recruitment and retention of Juniors etc but I certainly think this should be a focus as opposed to changing the rules every 2 years on how many times someone has to represent the association before they can avoid playing footy on a long weekend.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League
Great call Ace!!!! Having a club fold is good for nobody!!
I reckon you’ll find that there is also a bigger turn out when Hamley play away compared to AV who bring sweet FA to an away game apart from a few supporters who know a lot less about the game....

It is a worry, the towns aren't getting any bigger, the population's are dropping and it would be bloody hard for clubs like Hummocks, United and Hamley to have sustainability with juniors.
Comparing town populations over the past decade or so isn't pretty and it's hard to find a solution, I think it's admirable that the kids and parents continue to turn up to represent their town and club, games always go ahead and everyone is out there giving it a go.

They sort of did last week but there ended up being a 12 vs 12 game as Hummocks helped them out.

Would hate to see Hamley fold, word is that Greenock are looking at joining the APFL, could there be a merger of some sort here??
