Thompson and Burton will surely not be traded, as for Jericho, Meesen, Perrie, Doughty etc I doubt anyone would be willing to take these guys on for much more than 3rd/4th round draft picks.
The crows only option to trade someone of any worth would probably be McGreggor and with 3-4 years left in him they wont get too much in return anyway

Meesen will get much more than a 3rd/4th rounder.

I dunno that it would be "much" more, and if it is better than 3rd or 4th round that would be more as a result of a shallow draft this year I'd say ... Being a key position type, young and living on the exploits of his underage, the Crows might get lucky with a Victorian club paying over the odds for him, but I don't think he's worth much at the moment.

Bode is the best in and under player in the side, something we missed dearly this year.
Have to also ask questions about Biglands. Might not come up ala Primus a few years ago.

You wouldn't be banking on Hentschel being back to his old self next year, so there will be plenty of opportunity for Welsh still, and if Hentschel does perform better than expected then Welsh shouldn't require the same amount of goals to be deemed a success.

Welsh has had his flaws over the years but he's quality, and goal forwards aren't easily replaced ... Shouldn't be going anywhere unless being replaced by someone as good.

We follow the same SANFL team so I'm surprised at what you've seen in Meeson to make you feel this way ... His body doesn't look like developing in a hurry, his vertical leap is nothing special and he is slow.

He has a good pair of hands, but I wouldn't have thought they make up for the abovementioned deficiencies ... I hope I'm wrong because Johnny is a good bloke, but I'd take Maric and Griffen personally.

Sam Butler. Should be our #1 priority. Played about 30 games for the Eagles, is about 21 but has been injury prone. Such a smooth mover though and has great skills.

Agree with all of that Hondo, unfortunately I think the Crows are AT LEAST 2 Quality midfielders short ... I'd think the names you've mentioned would be the one's to check on, maybe even Butler at West Coast.

Whats the contract situation of blokes like Rusling and Fisher like?

Crows would be chasing Symes I think but would be surprised if the Power gave him up to their arch rivals ... They have also been after Nic Fosdike in recent years who would be useful as part of a group, but is no star in his own right.

There’s no doubt his body is a bit of a concern. Has put on a bit of weight during his 3 years with the Crows but I would’ve thought he would be a bit stronger by now. I can’t agree that is he slow though; he would have more than reasonable pace for a ruckman. His leap has improved a LOT this year.

Keep in mind that he’s got a huge engine and for a ruckman that’s crucial these days IMO. I believe he was in the top 10% for his draft camp for the 3k run and if need be he could probably ruck all game. Got good agility and is effective around the ground. Just needs a bit of time that’s all. I think his potential is greater than the 2 other young Crow ruckmen.

Fair enough NFC, you're right about his tank, I should have included that, and for someone that tall he is OK I guess at ground level.

I know the bigger blokes mature much later, and Johnny could well fall into this category, you just have to wonder how long a club can persist with him before they may get some results.

Playing more than 10 games a year with a Bullies or Blues may well do him the world of good, I don't think he can improve too much in his current SANFL environment.

I am interested on people's thoughts regareding Bernie Vince

He had couple of opportunities, played across HF, however struggled to consolidate his spot, but has gone back to WWT and played some very good footy in the midfield

I don't get an opportunity to see his form in the sanfl, so I would be interested in hearing people's thoughts on young Vince

I think players like Douglas, Vince and McGregor would be getting very frustrated with Craig's policy and may be advised to think selfishly and seek trades not wait for Adelaide, McGregor especially if he is to have a long AFL career a trade is the only option I feel

Dutchy, I am comfortable with a McGregor trade, Vince I have not seen enough of, however his form reads pretty good in the sanfl, so I would like to see him remain at the club

Dougie, agreed, Craigy should of played the kid a lot more this year and in a different role, let's hope he gets more of an opportunity in 2008

I was just reading the AFC web page and found the following article

Adelaide’s NSW scholarship player Taylor Walker was voted best afield in his competition’s senior grand final on Saturday.

Walker, 17, kicked seven goals from centre half forward for North Broken Hill in its 29-point win over West. He had also kicked seven goals the previous week in the preliminary final.

Walker last year was Adelaide’s first signing through the AFL’s NSW Scholarship program. This year he was chosen in the All Australian under 18 side after representing New South Wales at the national under 18 championships.

The scholarship program allows AFL clubs to add selected players to their list once they have reached drafting age. Adelaide will consider its options with Walker before this year’s national draft in November.
