STURT 2007 DRAW

Postby mal » Mon Sep 10, 2007 10:14 am

First of all for a club touted as a wooden spoon chance they did a great job to finish 4th
BUT
ST gave up 3 home games at Unley to play at Adelaide Oval
THE RESULTS
UNLEY 7 games 6 wins
ADELAIDE OVAL 3 games 0 wins

ST in essence only played 7 TRUE home games in 2007.
The other clubs had a distinct advantage with home grounds compared to ST

DID playing 3 home games at Adelaide Oval cost ST a double chance ?
I think it did.

A good point Mal.

I think an inability to stand up to the second half pressure on Friday night cost us the double chance though...

Possibly, but if that's their choice, then they have to wear it.
Even so...playing three games at Adelaide gives them a leg up
for finals footy, as opposed to the other clubs who don't get a
game there. Surely it'd help Sturt having played three games there
compared to Glenelg, North & Eagles who have played one, and the
Doggies none...

They got exposure BUT
Id rather not play there and have the Double chance

2008 DRAW
Granted each club plays each other 3 times
One of those games will be Adelaide oval
With that in mind for 2008 will ST give up 3 Unley Oval games ?

I think that we will only know after the next three weeks if it was a good thing or not for Sturt to do. There is nothing to say that they would have won any of those matches had they been at Unley. It will give Sturt a huge advantage in the finals to have played at Adelaide Oval so often.

Funny the EAGLES played 3 games at Thebarton(the eagles second home whether the fans like playing there or not) and did not win every game at thebarton. And the EAGLES scrapped through into third spot with the double chance .
The eagles fans are not complaining about not finishing higher up the ladder .What helped the EAGLES is winning more games after round 10 than before round 10.
Yes before the season started Sturt were tipped as being bottom then when Sturt started winning something about the second best side and coach in the league was mentioned .Then what happened Sturts win loss ratio changed .
Its one thing being touted as playing in a grandfinal in April/may but the real season starts now.And if sturts fans were fair dinkum fans like Eagles(we are few in number but loud in voice on the net) or Centrals you would not be making posts like above.

Forget the minor round it doesn't matter what happened last week .Get behind your team not just on a BANDWAGON .Be at the ground and give voice and not run down your side or Coach. Because if you don't you aren't never going to go forward.

Thats all IMHO.
But geez forget whinning and get on with the finals.

UNLEY OVAL.............ADELAIDE OVAL..........MT BARKER

If I was a ST barracker I would be stoked they made the finals given pre season assessments

So by reading this you are saying that Loud Eagle hooligan is in fact correct Sturt will finish fifth because they can not win at ADELAIDE oval.
Watch out north or eagles Glenelg just have to show up to win this week!!

IF is a very big word in football Mal
IF Eagles had kicked 10 straight Saturday would glenelgs running game have got going.

Those that take a chance on a football field will win more games than those that don't.
Would I have been disappointed if the EAGLES missed the double chance and the answer would be yes.But they would have still made the finals. At one stage this year the EAGLES looked like missing the finals or more than once. And this EAGLES fan would have been more disappointed if his team missed the five.

Correct me if I am wrong did not Norwood win a flag from fifth spot and Sturt from fourth. Its never over until the final siren sounds Mal.

Sturt blew a 50 point lead in the 3rd quarter- THAT cost them the double chance!
