I use Zucchini (I have a gadget that cuts it so it comes out like pasta) or spinach or cauliflower rice. Cauliflower is the most versatile vegetable ever! I make pizza bases and wraps out of it and mash to put on top of shepherds pie or vegetable bakes.
Definitely agree on the carbs. We eat way more than we need.
I follow the paleo way of eating, which basically means no grains. It is also not just about eating meat like people often think. If it's good enough for Gary Ablett and LeBron James, then it's good enough for me!
Had Cauliflower rice last night , with some curry and veges I was apprehensive about having it Tasted a lot better than I thought it would Will be having it again in other meals as well

Yeah I found its fine with any meal where you have ample dive which creates most of the taste anyway

Xmas/New year just gone, I won't lie Iie I nudged 100 kg,after sitting at 94-98 kg for the past 10 years.
Got back into more regular exercise and eating less and hey ho down to 88 kg now.
Next target 85 kg by Xmas

Lost 5kgs in the last 6 months. Still drink too much beer, still eat the wrong foods, still dont exercise. All that was required was a change of career!

BMI says I'm still obese I would have to be 61 to 82.5 kgs to be "healthy". I'd have to have no muscle at all to make that weight
As a (semi-retired) doctor and a cynic, I note that the literature telling us what healthy weights (or healthy cholesterol figures) should be has moved toward ever lower figures since so many medications have been on the market that claim to lower cholesterol or lower appetite - below levels that never even bothered life insurance companies in the 1980s. Old ideal weight charts used to quote three ranges for small, medium, and large framed individuals, using wrist bone circumference to determine which range to use - they no longer exist.
I suspect that reduced University funding for research and the ongoing need to "publish or perish" may drive some academics to accept funding from sources that want a little selective data sifting for their money...
I'm reminded how in the late 1980s and early 1990s Cardiologists would not eat eggs, or let their families do so, because of their cholesterol content, but we now know the cholesterol in eggs is fully broken down in the body, and there is a factor in eggs that acts to reduce our own cholesterol production.
Started my quest to lose weight this year, got down from 90.6 to 80.3 and was doing pretty well, then got a hernia. Have been stuck just walking for the last 3 months, and the next 9 months while I await surgery. Went back out to 84.9, now down to 84.0 again. Slow progress, but getting there. Initially hated the idea of getting up early to exercise, but now am enjoying getting up at 5 and heading out for a walk

99.2 is my lowest weight in this thread 24/12/2006 121.5 my highest 1/3/2011 115.5 was my last posted weight 14/8/2014
I then got even bigger 125.9 November 2016 is what I peaked at
In all seriousness age caught up with me, as I gained weight my health became the victim I had a multitude of health problems , it was time to change things I was sick and tired of being sick and tired
113.0 is what I weighed on 1/1/2019 An almost 13 kilo loss in 25 months That was a good result
Ive made a concerted effort in 2019 so far 107.5 is the weight today
Ive now lost 18.4 kilos in 27 months
Ive always been able to lose weight in the past, but have been terrible in maintaining weight My proud achievement since the 125.9 peak , is Ive lost the weight and kept it off
The plan now is to lose a sMALl amount of about 1 kilo a month for the rest of the year The aim is to be below 100 and lower the bat before NYE 2019
In all seriousness , my aim since the 125.9 peak was to lose 37.1kilos Therefore my goal weight will be atey ate point ate kilos
I will post on things that have worked for me in the last couple of years However what works for me may not work for others
A MEASURED APPROACH What I did initially was count the calories of each meal/snack/drink I was having I was able to learn the amount of calories in certain meals/snacks/drinks I did this for just over 3 weeks, figuring the foods I ate in that time frame were the foods I was be consistently having I then eliminated, avoided , or lessened the amounts of certain foods/drinks , that had a highish calorie count I then educated myself on the better , lower calorie choices At times I was surprised at how high or low calories in some foods/drinks were
Need to get on this bandwagon. Working most weekends and having a dodgy knee for the last 10 years has killed most team sports off. I've never been a big fan of going to a gym and exercising by myself. I might need to just start getting up at 5:30 and getting dressed in runners and start walking/jogging the beach or bike track between Semaphore and Outer Harbor. Need to mix it up though to stop boredom.
I used to be a a junkie for this 12 cracker biscuits 3 slices of cheese cut in 4 for the 12 biscuits Plus other toppings
I substitute sliced cucumbers for the jatz biscuits And only use 1 slice of cheese in 12 pieces , = smaller portions on each cucumber
Im about 200 calories better of with a cucumber base than cracker biscuits Im also about 200 calories better off with 1 slice of cheese, instead of 3 The toppings are usually low calorie choices, like tomato capsicums etc
Weighed myself Saturday for the first time this year, knew I would not be happy with what I saw, it's been a stressful start of the year and i've certainly not taken care of myself properly.
113.2kg.
Blood pressure is high, cholesterol is high.. may as well just shoot me now.
