4 flags

Postby TheOldReeg » Sun Sep 09, 2007 11:54 am

G'Day All,

My Son was asking me yesterday if the League, Reserves, U19 & U17 flags had ever all been won by the one club in any year. Stuffed if I know :( but I thought maybe someone else might :D

Cheers,

Richard.

Nope.
The closest attempts have been;
1955 Port - missed Under 19's,
1986 Norwood - missed seniors,
2005 North - missed seniors.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Great! Thanks for the speedy reply.

I had a vague thought that Norwood might have come close in the late 80s as they had very strong juniors back then and seniors that were around the mark.

Been a few more than that. In 1993 the Eagles won three out of four. I reckon Torrens managed it in 1953 too.

Didn't Centrals win 3/4 recently 2001 or 2003??
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The position of the other grade that did not win the flag in the last five occasions the other three did were:

1986 - Norwood League 5th
1993 - Eagles Under 19s 2nd
2000 - Eagles League 2nd
2003 - Central Under 17s 6th
2005 - North League 4th

Did we win the 19's in 93 as well?

But glad to assist in any way we can...

It doesn't suck to be the only team to have won three flags in a year twice... ;)

And it was South in 1993 who won the Under 19s.

Central District is the only team to win the top three - League, Reserves and Under 19s.

That's got to count for ... something.

Interesting to note that Port prevented a clean sweep by Torrens in 1953, and just two years later Torrens did the same to Port. Suggests that both sides were probably pretty close to winning all four as it looks like their Senior Colts sides were pretty strong at the time.
