Knowing run rate was vital, the lads had a crack at the bowling from the get go, as they had a number of regulars unavailable and a longer tail than normal. Even at 4/72 off 16 overs the chase looked safe. The lower order jitters set in and the chase came up about 7 runs short. With 4 blokes back in next week, the Miners are a bloody good chance to knock Maccy over in the semi!

It was pretty much the only solution to reinvigorate the A Grade Comp
If it was still 2 day cricket i know for a fact that L Creek wouldn't have been in A Grade anymore.
Reckon another club or 2 would have struggled as well
It has basically become impossible to select a team a week in advance with any certainty in todays society.
The clubs that are able to in Country Comps that still have 2 dayers like Hills and Great Southern are either very lucky to have a stable playing group or are doing it tough.

FWIW a few weeks ago Echunga (A&EH A2 grade) played their traditional T/20 against Mylor (HCA A2 grade), while its essentially a fun day, in previous years there has been some decent cricket played by some half decent players. Echunga made 300 (if you don't mind) batting first. Echunga is not a big ground square of the wicket, but some balls where landing on the roof of the club rooms - that's 6 anywhere. Mylor replied with about 260 odd, a fair effort too. Always difficult to tell who is at "fullish" strength, I get the feeling both teams were a little thin on the day. Echunga scrapped into the 4 in A&EH, Mylor sit 3rd in HCA - both are A2 clubs.

So all 4 teams make the finals..
Do you still need to retire at 50 in A4s?

Havent had time. Cricket and vintage doesn't leave much time for anything else.
Old age and being 30 kgs overweight = RH

Back to the Creek though. They've come from the clouds to grab a GF spot, while Woodies have bowed out in straight sets.
