Bylaws or not, lets be fair dinkum - it's a final - and a T20 final at that.. to issue a 5 run penalty is frankly pathetic.

Report the player if its that bad and let it be dealt with after.. potentially cost a club the win with that call.

Given the claims of the caught behind given not out sparking it, makes me wonder if the umpire lashed out in embarrassment knowing he did done ****** up.

Umpire me me me time.

A fair few assumptions on here.
If it was repeated swearing at the umpire then I'd do the same. Reporting him isn't going to diffuse the situation at that time.
If the bloke kept going after a warning then bad luck. 5 runs to the opposition diffuses the situation instantly.

I can go one better.....there is an ATCA umpire that has worn batting gloves on the field! Coupled with a helmet this was to protect himself after getting a ball smacked back at him and broke his hand.

I know a sales rep who wears white cotton gloves when he drives around, reckons he spends that much time with his hands in the sun through his windscreen he'd rather wear them than end up with spots that could cause concern.

Surely that's enough to get you off at the tribunal?

Surely it was longer ago than that?? I recall them in SCA when i was U16's and i reckon it was only a couple years later they were in ATCA - must be early 2000's?

Brahma Lodge went from hard wicket to turf. There are plenty of teams that have relaid their centre squares and the process is similar. I was involved with Ingle Farm when they relaid their centre wicket a few years back. At the time there were only a few options - Belair Turf Management and Sports Ground Construction. Not sure what options are available now. Either way, it's an expensive exercise to set up and then maintain.

I reckon it was 2009/2010 in A2.

All i can say at this stage is that there were 3 suspect calls in about 7 balls (in the last 4 overs) that were all given not out (2 run outs and a caught behind). Understandably tempers flared and words were said. I was on the boundary so I didn't hear anything, but at no point was the other umpire consulted in the decision making.
I could elaborate but have been told not to comment too much on it at this stage.

Full credit to the Ramblers, they played a great game and from my experience they were a great bunch of lads who played the game in good spirits.
