The two captains may make no difference whatsoever to neutrals, or even to the players and coaching staff, and may have no bearing or any result this year whatsoever.

But I love those sort of little traditions that clubs pass down, that make them different from other football clubs. The captain always wearing #1 is a Port 'thing', and it's sad to see another club tradition (as small as people may think it is) fade away in the modern era, even if it's not my clubs.

How many times do we have to repeat that the Captain wearing number 1 hasn't always been so at Port. I repeat ad nauseum that Geof Motley wore number 17 for the 8 years he captained Port and John Cahill initially wore number 14. It has been a tradition for about as long as the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Not very long in the history of the club.

My favourite was at Arsenal, each game the captain decides to wear long or short sleeves. The rest of the players have to follow suit.

Quirky, irrelevant but it was unique to them.

Those who are tearing up their memberships are probably the same fickle "supporters" who were doing something else while 13,583 of us watched the 2012 season come to an end against Brisbane at Football Park. I didn't miss them then, I won't miss them now.

Easy way for the speculation to stop, just name the captain(s) and it will be all over in 24 hours, I would be absolutely staggered if they dont know yet which way they are going to head, in fact most clubs would know by Christmas but they delay announcements to before the season when there is little news.

Maybe the Wines/Jonas narrative isn't as clear cut as the media has made it out to be.

What if the club is legitimately taking it's time with the decision, taking into consideration a bolter who has the respect and admiration of the group within the 4 walls, who mightn't be thought of as leadership material by the externals?

They have been together, living out of each others pockets 6 days a week since late October, they know who their Captain is. If they don't there are more problems that many suspect at Alberton.
