I assume it's just because there's no real need to use them when the ambulance has passed the traffic. I.e. they're on their way to an emergency or a hospital, they put the lights and sirens on to get through the traffic, and once they're on more open road they put them off as they're no longer necessary. Nothing untoward I would've thought.

It is extremely cheeky and I've seen it a few times now including today. I've also seen a police car do it at an intersection where the driver turned on the lights and sirens to do a U-turn and go back the other way.
At a guess I'd say the lights and sirens are on with "emergency" situations, possibly life or death, in the instances you are referring to they may have someone injured that just needs to get to a hospital, perhaps if they are in extreme pain they'd use their own discretion whether they need to use the sirens or not, I wouldn't think they'd be taking the piss out of the traffic, it wouldn't make a huge difference to them, maybe they have to drop someone off in a hurry to attend an accident?
They also tend to turn the sirens/lights off as they get close to the site where they are heading... they certainly have when we have had to call them for issues at our place. You can hear the siren in the distance, then when they get closer they turn it off when they get close...
Though in this case the dinnerback at base may have been getting cold... just joking...

Good timing ... This morning driving to work I was waiting at a red light on the corner of Clark Tce and Taps. Ambo car comes up quickly behind me with lights flashing, stops behind me and promptly turns the siren on. Am I permitted to go through a Red light in order to make way for a service vehicle like that?

I don't think so, but I guess creating enough of a gap would be enough?

I believe you are allowed to enter the intersection if they have their lights on

Was a tricky one, I thought about going through it but there wasn't really long between the Clark Tce traffic clearing and the lights turning Green anyway thankfully

It may or may not of been an emergency and yes it may have been a possibility that they had a patient in the ambulance but they were not travelling in the direction of a hospital, maybe I didn't make myself clear, my question is based around them specifically using their lights and sirens to get past the traffic then immediately turning off their lights and siren and return to the normal speed (60kms) in the left lane, as I witnessed yesterday.
Whether they have someone in the ambulance or not and no matter where they were going I wanted to know it is legal for them to do what I just explained. I was just interested to know if it is legal or not because I thought it was pretty cheeky of them.

It's illegal to enter an intersection on a red light...safety first. It's almost a damned if you do; damned if you don't situation. I remember a case a few years ago (I think it was Salisbury), where a driver went through the red light to allow an ambulance to follow and was fined.
Firstly I would like to apologise in advance as this may have already been answered earlier...
When using the Tapatalk app, when looking at unread posts, the app will automatically jump the the 1st unread post of a thread when you click on the thread title, whereas when veiwing through the web browser, if you hit the thread title it takes you automatically to the very first post on the thread.
Is there a setting where I can make it jump to the first unread post of a thread?
Thanks in advance and again I apologise if this has already been answered and I'm the only schmuck who can't figure it out.

There is a red square before the title, between the red footy and the title. It's small, but there, click that.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Has anyone had any success in recovering data from a broken mobile phone and who did you use? I am googling some places and the costs are insane to recover it...

Never had that situation but have you tried Adelaide Tech Guy Richard Pascoe?

Nope. I've found a mob in the city that specialise in this stuff. Cheers.
