Not complaining about it at all, just pointing out the bleeding obvious to a few North supporters getting ahead of themselves.

Two weeks in a row we've been restricted to 1 player on the bench after half time. Many of our best players were out (Nelson, Herring, Thomson, Gum, Gregory plus Feast & Sheedy after 1/2 time). The GayFL clubs chose to 'rest' Bentley and Mattner (yes I know that was the case for North too - but surely losing Perrie is a blessing). For arguably our most important game of the year we had 3 debutants and 6 players under 19.

That's footy. It's true, Sturt have been relatively blessed with its level of injuries this year and now our lack of depth is beginning to bite us on the bum.

So congrats on an inspiring win North, it truly was a remarkable turnaround and I would be ecstatic if it were my team. But get some perspective about things please. Against a sub standard team you snuck in, hardly a belting. You would not have had a sniff against a full strength Sturt team and I'd be surprised if you get too far into the finals.

Hope you do though - I'd love to see someone usurp the Dogs / Hybrids snoredown.

Come on, North supporters have been called whingers many times this season when we raised the issue of injuries. "It's part of the game", "you need to have depth", etc, etc. Now the shoe's on the other foot its OK all of a sudden. No credit to North, just that we beat a "sub standard" team - sub standard team with a 100-goal FF

If Sturt had their injury bad luck earlier in the season all of this renaissance (I need to check the spelling each time I used that word) talk would never have started. It's not North supporters who got ahead of ourselves

No, just bewilderment at the smugness of any North supporter who could call that effort a belting

If expressing extreme disappointment that my team has been hit by a high level of injuries to key players at this time of year while at the same time congratulating North on an inspiring win is sour grapes then OK, I'm guilty... :?

Can someone please remind me next time we play Sturt not to take any photos of Sturt players since their supporters are more worried about the topic of the title as opposed to the actual photos I take for them (at both North games and games not even including North such as Port v Sturt earlier this year)
Bugger it, I'll start next week, there will be plenty of Bays highlights.

Zip Zap is correct in noting the timing of our injuries.
The timing of the comment is probably a bit off though. I think after last night we deserve to "stink" for a little while. We were too good for them for over a half of footy, so I can't see how injuries step into it, unless a key player suddenly got injured just before North made their comeback. We have to wear this one. I had my first news of the result from reading the game thread end to end on Double Blue.org. Just reading that had left me devastated, no other word for it, I can imagine what it must have been like being actually present at the game. To the Sturt supporters back home, your night must have been ten times more rotten than mine, even though I have to carry this sig and avatar until Christmas, I know who has suffered more.
But hell we blew it! And there is no getting around that, we carry the injury excuse into next week and we have lost before we have begun and it is bye, bye Blues 2007 after promising so much, just like last night.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

It was the "you won't do anything in the finals" line (bit unncecessary and off topic) and the "you played our u19s side" vibe when you only listed 6 or so "outs" where I detected sourness.

In fairness, re-reading your post its not as bad as I first thought but there was some sting in the tail!

Choking the chook, you should have taken some pictures of a jarman, maybe he had something to do with that win. Oh thats right he is crap and it should either be harty and bone there who took north to bolivar. Nothing like a cocky cock.

Dude, you're just embarssing yourself now.
Just for the record I thought Jarman was great in the 2nd half but made some awful blues in the first half especially persisting with Coulter on Chambers for more than a quarter when blind Freddy could see even before the game that that was a bad matchup.

No excuses at all. I still cant actually work out how we got 50 pts infront. All you northies keep bringing up Sturt were infront by "50 pts 5 minutes into the 3rd" but cant actually tell us why/how this happened? I remember this arrogance during the prelim final in 89

I have read a several posts by 'Northies' criticising the lack of accountability in the first 1/2 half as well as coaching mistakes and match-up issues.

Go back and have a read .....

Sturt1 - you got in front by the margin you did because you played very good football and North were unaccountable to a degree that assisted. I'm sure if you had a full deck to pick from (or near enough not counting AFL players as both teams had 2 taken) then you probably would not have got beaten if you held a 50 point lead however North went in without a number of first choice players too in our Captain Wintle, Vice Capt Brett White, Kaesler, Kingsley Walker and Weatherley also on the injuured list so it's all about equal in that regard.

In the end North stepped up finally and put some pressure on, made some moves and manned up and we over run you. As for the inexperienced Sturt side that many Sturt people are claiming ran out - to a degree that is right but you also had guys like Feast, Sheedy, Whiteman, Chambers who have played alot of football - check the budget as per games played and see who had the most experienced group of Senior players plus those who have been premiership players? North also had blokes like Cubillo, Gallman, Wright and Wundke - none of who have played more than 12 games so there was inexperience from our side too. Injuries didn't help you with Feast and Sheedy during the game but we lost Ryswyk and Motlop as well so we ended up with only 19 fit plus a badly limping Jimmy Allan.

The fact is we had a win from nowhere which suprised all of us North people after the first half showing. As I said on another thread it may be cold comfort but Sturt are a very good side and if they get a few in's this week and play the type of footy they played in the first half then there is no reason they can't beat the bays but it will be hard becasue the Bays would be the form team of the comp over the second half of the year.
