Isn't there something 'Abandoning work' clause?

Yep, very intricate though.

If she's got certificates to cover he absenteeism then it will be difficult, as mentioned though, get a certificate to say she is fit to work before allowing her back.

Day 21, not much has been said around the place but there must be some movement at the station.

The domino effect is beginning to take place, there is generally 7 people that work in our vicinity, with the chopping and changing going on, the lack of communication within and the annual leave booked ahead of us, this whole area is going to implode, my closest colleague here has been used to fill gaps and she lost her shit at me yesterday and we're usually very united.

Unfortunately it needs to fall down to be fixed long term, between the 7 of it's a 5/2 split as far as who our manager is and both managers see things entirely different, I've worked under both in the past few years despite being in the same role.

I'd be very confident that the term "abandoning your post" would be sufficient to terminate employment in this instance.

How can someone just ring in sick for a month with no checks and balances?

I just cannot fathom that

Maybe there’s more to it.
Does her manager know why she’s not there but not telling you?

Obviously we don’t know her but she may be ill?
Mentally?

I agree there has to be some sort of confidentiality however in a small workplace some sort of announcement from management just saying that Ms X has some personal issues and will be having done unspecified time away. Everyone accepts that and there is no innuendo between workers

Yeah agree.
Sounds like the manager there needs better communication skills.

As a manager I’d tell staff she’s off for an extended period regardless.

Employee confidentiality, her manager can't even tell their manager what info she has received on the matter, reeks of bs though when it's one day at a a time, a habitual liar too.

The timing is dreadful too, everyone is looking elsewhere rather than offering to take on more during our busiest period, no one has any sympathy as no one has done much about it either, management just assume people take on extra and hope it all happens.

Nail hit on head,

"Hey LM, X has some problems that we're trying to sort through, if we move Y into her role are you able to help out with some of Y's role until we work something out moving forward?"

Do that to 4 or 5 people and you're covered for the time being, there's been none of that.

After Jan 7 there will be 3 of the 7 here, I've been trying to point it while they still have time for a plan B.

Everything is hush hush and whispers amongst everyone.

Several times, they were very compassionate to begin with, there's been enough evidence to display that they have been taken for yet another ride.

If she was one of my staff I would have contacted and met her personally already to ascertain what was going on.

Sacked, abandonment or quit, they all incur a 13 week period of exile from Centrelink.

If you quit don’t you have to wait longer than if you’re sacked?

Yes, you can also wait longer if you move to a regional centre where the opportunity to gain employment is considered less.

I could be wrong but being sacked is the same as quitting, just the other way around, being laid off or made redundant and it's a different ball game.

I'm not too sure, I've only ever been made redundant once and I've only ever quit a job to start another the following week.
