And some good kids in their midfield too. With Neale in there, they could've been really competitive.

I still don't rate Lobb though. He's not a ruckman and not a great forward.

I think Lobb is a decent forward, it was a bit crowded with the goal kicking power that GWS had, I reckon it's a good fit for both parties, having Matt Taberner as their only target was never going to see them post winning totals.
Cam McCarthy down there as well with Hogan gives them a bit.

Midfield with Fyfe and Mindy is a good start. The Hill brothers are good outside players but christ they can go missing. I think the midfield is a bit shallow and Mindy isn't getting any younger. However they do have some good you kids coming through as you said. Cerra and Brayshaw will be good players.

Mundy Will be eligible for super rules in 2 years, I agree with you about the Hills, McCarthy, he'd have to be the most unimproved player over the past 3 years, I rated him not that long ago.[/quote]Yeah well Cam MaCarthy is still young as well. Big ask for him to play in that forward line and develop.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Yep, thought Geelong were being a bit harsh initially but now I respect their decision. It's a cruel industry at times but they all get well compensated for it.

Will be interesting to see what sort of year Kelly has in 2019.

Tristan Xerri (fear not Dutchy).
201 cm, 19 years old. Played VFL this year & was impressive. Around mid-season the club extended his contract until the end of 2020.
This is the bloke they’ve earmarked to eventually take over from Goldy.

You'll be crossing everything that Goldstein stays on the park. 19 year old with 13 VFL games under his belt, averaged 9 disposals and around 10 hitouts.

Why'd you let Preuss go again?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I say good on Geelong, have him a crack when no one else did and after a year wants to go home.

If you’re so desperate to get home, retire from AFL or try to go to Fremantle

Setterfield, if he can get his knee right, he'll assist us greatly in the midfield. Rated more highly than Kennedy by GWS and finally McGovern. He'll help us immensely. Great pair of hands and a great field kick. He can only assist our kids up forward and can swing back if need be.

Overall, we kept pick 1 and gave away two second round picks for the four players - with a few third and fourth rounders which matter little.

Although, in saying that I wouldn't have minded going after Jordan Roughead and or Collyer for basically nothing!

And we made the bombers panic enough to give up what GWS wanted

Not quite.
GWS wanted to give nothing back at first and then only a third rounder as talks progressed.
Both clubs didn’t get what they wanted but I think both would be reasonably happy with the outcome.

Usually when a player asks for a trade on compassionate grounds the two clubs involved make it happen one way or another. Beams, twice now, and I'm ok with that.

Makes me wonder if Kelly was prepared to go to Fremantle would a deal have been done there?

Unless he drops the bundle in the middle of 2019 and they get no return from him at all.

Can see him quitting footy and heading home

No rule saying they have to return the favour, they called Kelly's bluff and won, he could have gone to Freo so family wasn't as important as it was made out to be

Really hard to say who the big winners are this trade period. Richmond picked up the best player on the trade table for nothing but lost a couple of depth filling jobbers. Most other clubs have done ok without being outstanding.
GWS losers out of it thanks to poor list management and the Suns whilst having a disastrous period have firmly hit the reset button and will go to the draft armed with picks galore but won’t play finals in the next 5 years you would think. As for the two local sides the Crows didn’t do much but set up a good draft base and Port lost a little on field but should draft some good kids.

Yeah know about him but he is not ready yet, if Goldy gets a LTI we are in trouble.

Time for Mason Wood to step up. The ability & class is there, need to now see the consistency.

GWS are always going to be on the arse end of draft deals after enduring a couple of years of being the whipping boys initially. Two or three more years and it should settle for them.

I thought you guys got the best player out of the draft, well you and Brisbane would have to be pretty even.

Great player , 2 goals a game puts him right up there amongst small forwards.

Lynch the best player on the table IMO.
