You wonder how the trading of draft picks will play out. Adelaide might be a big player come draft week.

Brisbane and Freo done alright apart from the obvious, the Dons landed their big fish and Carlton will bring themselves a little closer to the pack.

As frustrating as Pittard has been for Port, at least he does get in there and get the ball, his disposal has been deplorable at times, if he could improve that tenfold he'd be a handy rebounding defender, I used to almost throw my stubbie at the TV when I'd see him about to kick in from a point.

I think PA would be over the moon with how they have done. Lost a couple of good players and picked up a couple but have placed themselves well in the draft. JC is a good negotiator.
How are they placed to pick up F/S and NGA players. Not too many points left at the lower end of their pick. Maybe hoping they slide to rookie.

Whilst I agree on face value they have had a good week ultimately as a club I think they have taken a massive step backwards.

Within one season they have gone from trading/drafting for ultimate success to within 22 games of football trading/drafting for the future.

A massive step backwards? I don't think our list has improved, but I'm not sure about massive step backwards.

Our defence has been sound for two years, nothing has changed in that department personnel wise and we've added Burton. Our midfield / forward mix will miss Wingard, he's not replaceable in the short term. Our forward structure looks better to me with Ryder there more often from the addition of Lycett and the return of Marshall makes us more flexible.

We'll need Rockliff, SPP and Motlop to be more consistent in 2019. Two of the three I have faith in their ability to do so, Motlop not so much but we know what we are getting there.

I reckon if after pick 3 is done, if Rankine or Lukosios is available they will throw a mega deal at St Kilda. I would almost say there is already a deal in place

Usually when a player asks for a trade on compassionate grounds the two clubs involved make it happen one way or another. Beams, twice now, and I'm ok with that.

Makes me wonder if Kelly was prepared to go to Fremantle would a deal have been done there?

Makes me wonder what type of bloke he is, it would seem unlikely for Geelong to put a block on someone wanting to return home, I can't remember who but I reckon they've had a couple of decent players in this category and have been successful in their pursuit.

Could also be that Geelong well and truly have their window open.
Freo had pick 10 on the table for him. But he didn't want to go to Freo so Geel okng rightly questioned his eagerness to get home.

Essendon's recruits weren't the problem this past season :

Devon Smith won our Best and Fairest.
Adam Saad finished 4th in the Best and Fairest.
Jake Stringer won our goal kicking.

8 and 13 up their sleeve, I'm not sure that gets them into the top 4 picks though, not in this draft where the top end talent is so highly rated.

I think for them to get in the top 4 it would have taken a player thrown in with a couple of picks to get them that high.

I don’t think Geelong have any confiedence in Developing Draft picks, because since Scott has been there (2011) they have drafted poorly.

Freo are winners in my eyes, they now have a forward line.

Don’t think midfield was their problem, they had no quality forwards

And some good kids in their midfield too. With Neale in there, they could've been really competitive.

I still don't rate Lobb though. He's not a ruckman and not a great forward.

You need to have the intent to kick forwards for a forward to be effective, they will be Botton 4 with port.

Essendon with their dodgy dodgy extra payments for being incompetent should see them top 4, anything less is a failure.

I think Lobb is a decent forward, it was a bit crowded with the goal kicking power that GWS had, I reckon it's a good fit for both parties, having Matt Taberner as their only target was never going to see them post winning totals.

Cam McCarthy down there as well with Hogan gives them a bit.

Midfield with Fyfe and Mindy is a good start. The Hill brothers are good outside players but christ they can go missing. I think the midfield is a bit shallow and Mindy isn't getting any younger. However they do have some good you kids coming through as you said. Cerra and Brayshaw will be good players.

Mundy Will be eligible for super rules in 2 years, I agree with you about the Hills, McCarthy, he'd have to be the most unimproved player over the past 3 years, I rated him not that long ago.
