Port Adelaide 2019
Justin Westhoff signs one year contract extension :
PORT ADELAIDE utility Justin Westhoff will continue his career at Alberton after signing a one-year contract extension.
The 32-year-old, who is the oldest player on the Power list, will play on for a 13th season after falling just short of his 250-game milestone in 2018.
Westhoff has played 248 games and kicked 291 goals since his debut as a 20-year-old in Round 1, 2007.
Drafted from Central District with pick 71 in the 2006 National Draft, the 200-centimetre forward has developed into one of the most versatile and reliable players on the Power list.
Westhoff played every game in 2018, booting 24 goals and spending increased time in the midfield and ruck.
He currently holds the second-longest streak of consecutive games, having played 123 matches in a row.
His recommitment to the club fends off the lure of free agency, with Westhoff qualified as an unrestricted free agent.
“I’m really happy to be sticking around for another year and hopefully building on something pretty special that I feel we have here,” Westhoff said.
“To still be playing with guys I was drafted with like Travis Boak and Robbie Gray, and to still be playing in my home state into a thirteenth year is really exciting.
“I’ve built some good relationships with people within the club, the club is in pretty good shape list-wise and I think I’m in pretty good shape personally so I’m thrilled to be able to be around a bit longer.”
Port Adelaide General Manager – Football, Chris Davies says Westhoff is a valued member of the club.
“Justin is one of the most reliable players on our list and is willing to play any role that suits the team,” he said.
“His professionalism can’t be questioned and his experience will continue to be extremely valuable for our younger players.
“His 2018 form was nothing short of outstanding and we look forward to him providing that consistency for us again in 2019.”

Re: Port Adelaide 2019
Oh David....
SUNRISE co-host and Port Adelaide chairman David Koch left his co-stars visibly stunned on-air this morning when he made a reference to slavery during a news item about Usain Bolt.
Koch was on a panel alongside co-host Sam Armytage, newsreader Natalie Barr and sports reporter Mark Beretta as Baretta read out a story a European football club’s interest in snatching Bolt before he signs with the Central Coast Mariners.
Bolt’s stock skyrocketed after he scored twice in a trial match for the Mariners. He is yet to sign an A-League deal with the Gosford-based club.
“So the Mariners sell him for money, they make a lot of money out of it?” asked Koch.
“It’s a win-win: You keep him, great. You sell him, so be it. That’s the tough world of professional football,” said Beretta.
This isn’t correct -- the Mariners can’t sell Bolt to another club as they haven’t signed him to a contract -- but regardless Koch’s comments made the details of the story irrelevant.
“Who said slavery was over — anyway. No,” said Koch, stumbling over his words before quickly changing topic.
The cameras soon cut away from the host — but not before the rest of the panel reacted to Koch’s clanger:

Still too slow around the stoppage - where's your outside mid?
Also swap Marshall & Dixon.

Was my first go at it mate....
Ryder and Dixon inside 50? I'd rather see Dixon up the ground using his mobility.
I can see Boak moving back into some more midfield minutes, Burton will allow us to use Bonner/Houston on the wing as Westhoff roams up and down.

I think those two split inside 50 together with S. Gray, Johnson or R. Gray lurking around would prove dangerous - two strong contested marking targets, suddenly by nature entries have a bit more unpredictability about it.
Marshall is just as mobile up the ground, probably a better field kick than Dixon and potentially able to cover more ground with bit more ease.

Agreed, but I think we lacked a presence where Dixon wasn't last year. If he was up the ground he had nobody to kick it to and if he was deep we couldn't get it there.
