Ray Galton, has died at the age of 88, who with co-writer Alan Simpson created classics such as Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe and Son, including The Blood Donor, which is one of the funniest episode that was ever written.

I might've said this before but I get "mid age crisis". All of my grown up life I've idolised LOTS of people, be it rock stars, tv stars, movie stars. Now that i've got "middle age" those people are dying before my eyes. I think it's a realisation that 1, I'm getting old and 2, dying is a reality.

On top of all that, Quentin dies today/yesterday and my kids talking about "who was your best friend from school?" (who passed away a couple of years ago aged 46 from cystic fybrosis) I'm feeling very old and vulnerable.

When I say vulnerable I didn't mean like topping myself, moreso that when i was in my 20's you never think of 'the end' but now I do, often!

And yep, you're right, they've lived awesome lives and 99% of the time I'm happy to think along the same lines.
