SANFL Finals

Post by Yangebup »

Will all SANFL finals be where they should be - on Saturdays now that both SA AFL teams are not in contention? I hope they are.

AFL finals night games anyway!

They wouldn’t change the days so late in the piece with broadcast arrangements already in place you’d think

Don't be stupid, that would be common sense.
All games on Sunday for absolutely no reason.

To me it makes good sense to play all the finals except the GF on Saturdays and
at vastly underused suburban ovals.
The clubs desperately need the coin, catering etc
As usual the SANFL are very very slow to do the obvious.

Saturday would have been preferred from a personal point of view. Also enjoyed the night games they scheduled in 2014.

Dear SANFL

The idea of pre purchase for entry tickets is to:

a) lower the cost
b) ease congestion on match days
c) give organisers some idea of crowd interest for catering etc
d) encourage people to go

But if you make the transaction fee more than the discount and therefore make a single ticket more expensive, this will tend to not work.

WEEKS 1-3

CATEGORY PRE-PURCHASE PURCHASED AT GATE**
Adults $15* $18
Concession $10* $12
Under 18 FREE FREE
GRAND FINAL

CATEGORY PRE-PURCHASE PURCHASED AT GATE**
Adults $25* $30
Concession $20* $24
Under 18 FREE FREE
*Tickets pre-purchased through Ticketek will incur a fee of $5.65 per transaction
**Tickets purchased at the gate on game day will not incur the transaction fee

Will the demand for SANFL finals tickets crash the ticket provider's website?

Tyson Brown still a chance to play this week.

If Biemans is fit, does he play and who drops out. Easy decision if Browny does not play but hard decision if all are fit. Kappler may be Very Unlucky.

Personally, and I'm no physician, I'd have thought that a week off for Brown would be in order, even if South don't go any further - which I think they will.

Sturt's Daniel Fahey-Sparks challenged his 3 match ban for Striking last night and got off. He was reported for Careless, High Impact, High Contact which left Josh Scott with a split lip and broken tooth.

Unreal.

Agree StrayDog, Brownie shouldn't play, life long health more important than one game of footy regardless of how important...and this game is important and i'am one nervous Panther.

Apparently tickets are $2 cheaaper at National Pharmacies than at the gate, extra transaction fee is for online purchase.

Back to my suggestion to the SANFL for finals at suburban grounds.
Last year I observed the ammos finals and was really impressed with the happy family type home atmosphere it provided.
The biggest challenge to me for the SANFL is to entice old and new attendees and supporters to games.
All clubs must realise the league following slips year by year.
Surely the AFL sides, split rounds, byes, suburban ovals only open for real business on about 9 days a year etc.
just drives followers and sponsors away from the game.
Every year the challenge with the AFL opposition gets bigger and bigger
perhaps the SANFL could look at the SAFL for fresh ideas.
Against the odds they seem to be growing their business.

Well put.

Also puts a bit more on the line in the last round or two. All of a sudden teams who finished 2nd and 4th actually get rewarded for their better performances than 3rd and 5th.

Brown ruled out this week. Will make a case for selection next should South be still alive according to Zac Milbank....

Live radio on 1079 Life FM from 12 noon and via the SANFL App

SOUTH
A South Adelaide hardman has proven his fitness for the Elimination Final against North on Sunday.

Former Magpie Anthony Biemans has recovered from a calf strain to be named in the Panthers’ squad of 23.

Biemans has been joined by utilities Adam Hunter and Hayden Sampson, who have both been promoted from the Reserves.

Reliable defender Tyson Brown was unable to be selected after being diagnosed with severe concussion after the Panthers’ win against Norwood in Round 19.

Brown, who has been cleared of any spinal damage, will push to play in the First Semi-Final should South overcome North on Sunday.

NORTH
North Adelaide has regained captain Max Thring for its Elimination Final clash with South on Sunday.

Thring, who has missed the past three matches with a calf injury, has proven his fitness to be named to start in the centre square.

His presence will be vital given it is the Roosters’ first finals appearance since the 2013 Grand Final.

Key recruit Jarred Allmond has been named on a wing after taking precautionary measures with a corked thigh in Round 19.

The former Eagle iced up his knock for the second half of his team’s win against Port last Saturday.

Popular veteran Leigh Ryswyk has been unable to recover from his severe rib injury suffered against Norwood in Round 18.
