There are 11 defenders in the squad of 40. I'm classifying Lachie Whitfield as a defender, so I don't see any true midfielders being gifted spots on a half back flank or back pocket.

My back 6 are;
Hurn (Captain)
Rance
Grimes or Stewart
Laird
McGovern
Whitfield or Lloyd

I'd take Jetta over Whitfield, but in fairness I haven't seen a heap of GWS this season

I was surprised that Neville Jetta didn't get in the squad of 40. I also thought Jayden Short might have snuck into the squad ahead of Edwards and Cotchin, who have both been good without being great.

Sidebottom. Does that guy ever hit the target? Yet his disposal is endlessly talked up by the commentators. How often do you hear 'that was uncharacteristic by Sidebottom as he shanks another one. I'm not a stats man so I might be wrong but he appears to shank a lot more than his reputation would suggest.

Sidebottom has been one of the great under rated players for a few years IMO, as good if not better than Pendles.

Few could be in that category, Pendles makes time stand still.

His season has been fantastic.
Huge chance of a top 5 Brownlow finish.

Fantastic season for sure and been an excellent player his whole career, but not Pendles level. Maybe I'm still dirty they didn't give him the Normy in 2010 lol.

One of the best hard ball getters in the comp.
He seems to win 50/50 balls every time.

He's a maths whiz and turns them into 60/50 balls ;)

I reckon Shiel and Merrett are in the same boat, perhaps even worse than Sidebottom and both have the commentators waxing lyrical over their left foots ad nauseum

Shiel might end up at the Hawks
