Retro Round

Post by Wedgie »

While North and West will be back in stripes the Eagles will have a reversible guersney and will play as Woodville for one half and Torrens for the other!
Absolutely brilliant idea and surely itd be a hit with the fans if they sell them. Well done to whoever thought of this brilliant idea!

Pity about the big advertising circle, they look fantastic besides that.

Retro round?

Perhaps the smearpies could go retro by playing their best team of SANFL players, with winning being the only objective. You know, like the Magpies used to do.

The clowns could go retro by simply Not Turning Up. You know, by emulating the bye which they have replaced.

Good for you they're going back to the 80's, any other decade and you'd be as shit as you are now!

Silly idea imo !

Should of been the Eagles original 1991 jumper.
Not good for the opposition either and an advantage to WWT.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

This retro round is aimed at the 80s so a 1991 jumper wouldn't cut it

Not sure how they get an advantage out of it either. :?

Maybe we can ask Hodges, Smith x 2, Phillips, Delaney, Williams, Ginever, Abernethy and co. to come out of retirement and play as that’s the only way winning will be their main priority.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

It is personal taste but I much prefer the sash to the Eagle. Funnily enough the guernsey with the Eagle was generally known as the clown outfit especially by the Torrens old timers in the 1960s and there was much rejoicing amongst the older brigade when they reverted to the sash, the guernsey th they actually one premierships in.

It’s a psychological advantage. One half you are down chasing jumpers from one club then the next half it changes team.

Love to see the AFL approve a team to to this concept.

What are we now ? A circus ?

Never in doubt now !

Seriously, for a game that is critical for South to secure a spot in the finals this is farcical! Are we not a professional competition anymore ?

Is my memory shot or does the Woodville emblem look wrong for the 80’s?
Could have sworn the Warrior was just a yellow outline on the guernsey not a complete yellow head or am I mistaken?

Hard to believe the Eagles as a merged entity have played more seasons than Woodville did in the SANFL. Nice to see them recognise the history of Woodville and West Torrens in this way. Being a very young kid in the 80's - my best mate was Woodville and I was West Torrens and we'd have many battles in our respective back yards, in full kit, wearing these two guernseys. We never swapped at half time.
