Can't believe Melbourne would go down this path of a rookie coach I would have thought they need the complete package of selling the club and memberships as well as a good quality coach meaning Kevin Sheedy is the perfect fit for them.

Only time will tell i suppose.

IMO I thought they may have grabbed Sheeds, appointed their next choice as a assistant and let Sheeds groom them and provide tutelage...

One of the most impressive persons I've met through footy, one outstanding football brain and a coach-in-waiting in my mind since one game at Footy park v West in 1995 when he called in Glenelg players in told them in no-uncertain terms where they were going wrong and what they needed to do to correct the situation.

Hmm Bails you maybe aren't a great player, I thought, but I think you have a future in coaching.

A straight talker in a football sense, a great student of the game, and a top bloke to boot.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah it's a tough one ... Someone like Sheed's probably would have done wonders for the marketability of the club.

That said, if a club wins regularly enough memberships and attendance takes care of itself ... Unless you're the Power of course  (lol C'mon Booney, I was only joking mate)

Good call by Melbourne I reckon

Meant to be announced early next week but Chocko let it slip in a press conference today :D

Sheeds is well experienced and credentialled but plenty of rookie coaches have performed for their clubs - Roos, Williams to name a couple of premiership coaches
In between signatures .....

Boo!

He has a son who (until this week) was absolutely starring in the Glenelg Zone Primary School Footy.

Future footy star, guaranteed :(

Funny thing is that he is tall with red hair.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.
