I believe Melbourne are only on their first shit year, whereas Carlton are on their seoncd (unde the new priority pick rules). Will stand corrected on that though.

I think this is how it goes...
Carlton...If they win they will get pick 3 finish 14th. If they lose they will get pick 1 & 3.
Richmond...If they win they will get pick 2 finish 15th. If they lose they will get pick 2 finish 16th IF CARLTON LOSE. If Carlton win then they get pick 1.
Melbourne...If they win they will get pick 4 finish 14th. If they lose they will get pick 2 finish 15th. This assumes Richmond finish bottom. If Richmond WIN, and Carlton WIN then Melbourne will get pick 1 and finish 16th...

Carlton get Sticks cloned as they are in their 6th shit year ha ha. If they tank for four more years they'll clone Big Nick and draft him in. In the meantime the real Big Nick will lead the Blues rucks till the tank period ends...gotta be a better bet than Ackland ha ha.

it's crap wait till next year and the AFL will change the draft rules. It will make clubs play harder and not tank game because i find it F**ked that a club will lose for draft picks.

What is F##ked is that this is the first year that the word "tank" has been used. Look back at the drafts in previous years i.e Collingwood & St Kilda when they had their lean runs. They both lost games, just like Carlton, yet no word was bandied around re tanking etc etc. The system has been abused since day one, and that is no fault of Carlton's, St Kilda's or Collingwood. It is the AFL at fault and no one else...

My solution would be to scrap the priority pick altogether

Getting the no 1 draft pick is enough - no need to reward repeated mediocrity further

I don't think players tank on the day but possibly clubs deliberately don't name their best team / rest important players for next season. ie, the Administration's care factor about losing this year is lower and their minds are on next season - that's about as close to tanking as it gets.

The 22 guys that run out on the field would always give their 100% to win I reckon

I tend to agree with that. I mean earlier in the week I heard that Carlton were going to rest Scottland due to general soreness. Last game of the season and they would consider that. Now please tell me thats flop. But if its not then yeah you are spot on. I have no doubt in my mind that the players give everything when they are out there and want to win. But the admin....thats a different story. At this stage the carlton admin would be happy, being competative without winning.
