Most definitely not.
Taste, texture and nutrients all vary across the varieties.
If I make a risotto for instance I will only use Arborio rice.
For Thai or Malay dishes then Jasmine is the rice of choice whilst for Indian it’s Basmati

Gee whiz. I don't reckon I could pick one type of rice over another with a blind fold.

It’s not just the taste though.
Some rice is better for some dishes due to absorption rate and texture etc.
Next thing you will be telling me is that you only use 1 type of potato ;)
We usually keep atleast 2 varieties of spuds at home as some are better for mash and others are better for roasting

Do yourself a favour and go to the Asian grocers and pick some up. You won’t look back

Went to the Royal Oak today. Nice meal but no Foxtel. 0/10
Went to the Oxford, put on footy for us, gave us our own room with sound and beers were cheaper than the Royal Oak.
9/10

These North Adelaide pubs are weird and wanky, I need to change my footy side from North Adelaide to West Adelaide or the Eagles where the best pubs are.

La La la - Italian Restaurant on Gilbert/Gilles St
Rocked up 6:30 last night for our booking.
Browsed the menu and we all decided fairly quickly what we were going to order.
Waitress arrived to take our order, and then mentioned the specials.
Every special sounded better than the items listed on the menu, hence we all ordered mains from the specials list.
Got a serve of Pizzeta Garlic Bread, and BBQ Calamari for Entree.
Garlic bread was spot on, crunchy with good flavour, enough for a couple of pieces each.
BBQ Calamari was spectacular. Cooked perfectly, not chewy at all, with a bit of crunch and the slightest hint of chargrill.
I ordered Duck Risotto for my main (from specials mentioned by waitress). Could not fault it in any way, it was creamy and put together very well. The duck fell apart as you put a fork into it, and the flavours of the dish were great.
Other mains ordered were Crab Linguine, Eggplant Lasagne, and Spinach Ravoili. The other 3 were full of praise for their mains as well, all meals were just the right portion size.
Shared a bottle of red between 4 of us as well, during mains.
For desserts we shared a couple of chocolate molten cakes with ice cream.
Again very tasty.
Waitresses were helpful, and did not bother you. When you needed something, they were there.
Total came to $205 between 4. Highly recommend, 9.9/10

The wife and I went to the Rose Garden with my mum and her partner on Saturday night after a few bevvies at the pub, how's the irony, when we were perusing the menu my mum's partner said don't worry, I've got this and proceeded to place an order for us, Mrs Mc chimed in with something she spotted and he included that along with whatever else he had in mind.

We did the share thing, one person ordered for all, I was pissing myself internally after last week's fun and games.

Anyway, the food was absolutely brilliant once again, entree's served within a few minutes then mains about 8-10 minutes later, all up the visit only gave me time to down two stubbies, we went to hand over $60 for our share but got told not to worry about it so couldn't really complain and I have no idea how much the bill came to, we will be using the $60 to go back ourselves during the week.

I cannot recommend this place high enough, if you like Thai food and can overlook the dull decor, this is your place, price and quality is awesome.

A sidenote though, take cash, they will always round down to make it a flat $70 or $80 etc.

I attended a small stand-up bistro at Prospect on Sunday, located just inside a precinct at Menzies Crescent.
Don't be put off by the locals, they only chatter when things are going well.
First we stopped at a cute, little underground bar. The decor could be better, but being into retro design I didn't mind the faux-70s look, the venue's paintings not having been updated since 1991.
I was with my companion, who ordered me the house red. The service was great, we were asked "inside or outside?" At $12 for two x house reds, the shiraz was quite okay.
After a quick sip, we traversed the terraces to the outside bistro.
The service was quick and efficient. My companion ordered me the freshly cut loaf with beef, wrapped in a casing dripping with juicy rendering, featuring a drizzle of tomato relish and American mustard. I went with the choice of shallots on top. Served on a divine serviette, it was easy eating and I'd recommend eating there whenever visiting Prospect.
Fortunately, the managers of the bistro allowed us to shelter from the elements, which was nice despite one loudly repeatedly proclaiming his love of the area in which the bistro was located.
The view is slightly disappointing, a colourbond shed blocking the northern aspect of the lush grass on which the bistro overlooks.
We went back and had another house red, by which point the locals were a little more excitable and a little less welcoming to visitors.
My companion stayed on, bearing an affinity with the locals, while I beat a hasty retreat.

Cost for drinks and meal: $31.

I'd give the venue a solid 7/10. Food and service fantastic, loses a little for the reduced view - would be better if the locals were quieter. ;)

It takes all sorts to make up this world.

I'm not a fan of the share thing but with a small group it worked out well in this instance, even better that we didn't pay, it was a "thank you" gesture though.

Why do people have such a problem with sharing? It requires courtesy for everyone involved so is only advisable between good friends, but sharing is awesome, especially for most Asian foods

Fine by me, too, but then again I don't let my ego get in the way of a dinner with friends.

I think it depends on group size and company, some people are pigs and will load up on one item without thinking of others, well that's my take.

Makes me wonder why so many Asian inspired eateries offer banquets on their menu's.

Hmm....
