It was such a pathetically puerile thing he said.

Got me beat how Mooney gets a gig anywhere, he's just not funny.

I can't believe there is no younger play by play talent around the commentary circles, including radio. There are some new voices on Foxtel coverage but I guess Ch7 play it safe with the same old voices.

Doesn't Nathan Brown do play by play on radio? He did at one point at least. Thought he was ok

Brenton Yates is the best play by play commentator Ive heard. He calls it as it is, doesnt try to predict what might happen.
Been a while since ive listened to a MMM broadcast so not sure how good it is now

I'm usually heading back from an umpiring appointment on a Saturday afternoon with a triple M covered match on, I don't really take much notice unless there's a score or something major happens.

I basically want a score update every couple of minutes and an around the grounds where possible, I couldn't give a toss if Kermit the Frog was commentating.

Call me old school but the only radio commentator I've ever loved listening to was Rex Hunt, his made up names and enthusiasm were in a completely different world, he was funny as f*** last Saturday morning on triple M.

Yes I love Rexy's flamboyant calls. But just on a play by play with no artificial bullshit I rate Yatesy highly. I havent heard him in a while and hope he doesnt stray from that

Loved Rex on radio as a kid. Never understood the 'Tobin Brothers' dig at the ABC til I was older. A few that come to mind..

Steven Baker- The candlestick maker
Trent Croad- The Yellowbrick
Troy Makepeace- The Mediator
Trent Knoble- The Prize
Glen Manton- The Bolt
David Sierakowski- SOSAV (Son of a shark attack victim)
Michael Prior- The Conviction
Glen Kilpatrick- Oysters

The AFL needs more journalists like basketball's Boti Nagy. Informative without taking himself too seriously.
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..
