Fox Footy just do it so much better. Their commentary team is excellent, their halftime/post match panel is so much more professional. Don’t get me wrong, they have plenty of laughs too - just not school yard stuff though.

Which reminds me of Lawrence Mooney (is that the dud comedian) and his apparent reference when crossing to Sam Lane which she has lodged a complaint about....

Yeah a bit like Ch9's cricket they haven't really changed the format or with the generations. trying to make Basil the next Bruce has failed miserably.

I can't believe there is no younger play by play talent around the commentary circles, including radio. There are some new voices on Foxtel coverage but I guess Ch7 play it safe with the same old voices.

Doesn't Nathan Brown do play by play on radio? He did at one point at least. Thought he was ok

yep. I don't mind when the do the predictions and stuff like that. They all take the piss out of each other but at least its related to the footy

Brenton Yates is the best play by play commentator Ive heard. He calls it as it is, doesnt try to predict what might happen.
Been a while since ive listened to a MMM broadcast so not sure how good it is now

I'm usually heading back from an umpiring appointment on a Saturday afternoon with a triple M covered match on, I don't really take much notice unless there's a score or something major happens.

I basically want a score update every couple of minutes and an around the grounds where possible, I couldn't give a toss if Kermit the Frog was commentating.

Call me old school but the only radio commentator I've ever loved listening to was Rex Hunt, his made up names and enthusiasm were in a completely different world, he was funny as f*** last Saturday morning on triple M.
