FYI- Gaza v Unley was called off at 3/4 time. One of our boys broke his leg. Quite a sickening site. Unley took the points as the margin stood.

That could’ve been one of our B graders. Think he broke his ankle today too. Actually he is best mates with the guy that broke it in the A’s. Shitty day for the pair.

Well they were pretty confident of themselves this year! Shouldn’t be losing to gaza, & infact getting pumped by them

So DTH we have been trying to work out the last time we played a Brighton side. We know PHOS played BHOS and Camden played Brighton in th old GSFL but pretty sure PHOS played the combined unit early 90s. Not sure if you were around the place at the time.

1991 - A3 - Round 1 - Brighton Oval - The very first game of the Brighton Districts and Old Scholars (Brighton Bombers) saw us beat PHOS by 6 goals. We also won the B grade. You guys beat us in the A grade in the return game at Myer Oval and we won the B grade again. I played B grade both games. We went on to win the A3 flag over TTG and we never crossed paths with PHOS or PHOS Camden again in A/B grade. Our C grades did play each other in A9 in 1996 which was our last year before joining the SFL. You were PHOS Camden by then and playing at Camden Oval. Your C grade went onto win win the flag that year.

For what's it worth Brighton would have last played Camden in the old Southern Metropolitan League in the mid 80's. And BHOS played PHOS in A2 in 1990. We were the bottom 2 sides hence why we played again the next year. As a merged club involving one club already in the SAAFL, BDOS were able to take the spot in A3 which would otherwise have been the spot of BHOS.

Your memory is way better than mine. Did look up the 91 season though was a tough year with 4 sides on 14 wins and we couldn’t scrape in with 11. Looking forward to renew acquaintances and I know blokes from both clubs know each other pretty well. Should be fun.

I thought there may had been a chance you guys crossed paths in 1995-96 but DTH is correct. A couple great rivalries going ahead today that haven't happened in a very very long time and both will be great games of footy- both are within a few kms of each other also. The inclusions of the 4 SFL sides in to the league has been incredibly positive and there would be other clubs seriously entertaining that option one would suspect.

Top 4 then so you had to really prove yourself to make finals. My old man tells a story ( Not exadurated for once) where our reserves finished on the same amount of wins as the top team and had a % over 60. They missed the finals as all 5 of the top teams finished on 14 wins!! But stiff going 14-4 and missing finals...

Was a good competitive game, GG blew the second 1/4 big time with a poor display of skills for far to long.
4 goals down at the half then kick 5 straight to hit the front in the 3rd, out comes the short pass from FB and bang bang bang, 3 in a row to Broadies.
Set shot for goal from 40m out with a minute to go basically right in front only to be put OONF in the last 1/4.
Broadies were good enough to get over the line in the end but GG blew another game they should have won.
GG certainly don't deserve to be win less, but they are.
Frustrating to watch at times, all the best to Broadies.

PHOS Brighton game ends in a draw, 3 posters to PHOS hurt in the end.
Not one to complain about umpires but one of them had a stinker all day, both teams frustrated by his decisions and at times lack of!

4 out of the 5 game pretty well down to the wire.

Other won a huge blowout with Gaza only kicking 1 goal

Phos Camden and Brighton a draw
Broadview by 2 points over Golden Grove
Salisbury North 4 points over SHOC
Unley 16 points over Old Iggies
St Peters 108 points over Gaza (38 scoring shots to 10   )

This was a game that didn't reach any great heights but it did feel a lot like old school GSFL or similar with some quality crowd banter. Umpires had a tough job with a close in tight game but at one stage I did feel like singing out you're ruining a terrible game.

Have to agree Bandar and Hounds. It was a game where probably neither side deserved to win so a draw was a fitting result. What I'm finding in Div 2 this year is that the defences of most teams are quality and its been a real struggle for the forwards. Most of us on SA Footy are fully supportive of the stance the league and umpires are taking with stamping out the dickheads in our game but im just worried that some of the umpires are jumping at shadows and giving free kicks and 25's for such trivial things.

A win will not be far away @ all
No doubt a few scalps will be taken in the return games in the second half of the year. with performances like the last 3 weeks @ the start of the year there would have already been a few wins on the board!
