One would assume this is the main reason behind the recruitment of Shaun and Jarrad. Creates some hype for Hahndorf returning to the A grade competition.

Hahndorf's major weakness last year was batting. Shaun and Jarrad both hit a significant amount last year. It does make recruiting easier thats for sure. There are a few others who have agreed to play at Pine Avenue next season.

Have heard Braydon Grand (not sure if name is 100% correct) from Finnis. As well as Finley Walsh and possible Tim Woodman of Echunga. Also heard there was a few others in the mix.

Graydon is a class act. The 2 Echunga lads you mention are no better than the group you have

Woodman-Hussey used to play at hanhdorf as a junior didn't he? linking him to the club wouldn't be that hard now.

I know Wistow want to have a bit of a shakeup of the A grade. It would be good for the comp if more teams were trying to have an a grade team. Hahndorf went up, took some stick for a year and have able to attract players to come. Difficult to force clubs to go up if they dont want to though.

Did Nathaniel Brookes play at Wistow last year? How did he go? I believe he's moving on

AEHCA AGM (from their website)

Clubs will no longer need to pay for umpires throughout any of the finals from this season onwards, with the Association to be responsible for the costs of all major round matches - previously it was only Grand Finals.

Only one club raised any motions for any constitutional or by-law alterations.

Wistow Cricket Club's endeavour to have all cricket banned on days where the CFS declares a Catastrophic Fire Day in the Mount Lofty Ranges was unanimously voted in favour 14-0 by the clubs.

Wistow's motion to revert the current A Grade special heat-policy - in place for the past two seasons - back into line with the policy adopted for every other grade resulted in a 7-7 vote and without a majority, was unsuccessful.

Wistow's final motion to abolish the A2 Grade and set a cap of eight teams in each grade was unsuccessful, with no seconder to the motion and therefore no voting process required.

The Fleurieu District Cricket Council has advised that the Fuller, Figg and Calaby Shields will now be held on February 3, 10 and 24, 2019, instead of the usual time of November.

The Fuller Shield has been adjusted to an U13 competition from the previously U14 set-up, while the Calaby Shield has changed from U16 to U15. The Figg Shield remains U21.

The Meyer Shield will be held at Torrens Valley over the Australia Day long weekend in 2019 as we look to secure our first win since 2013/14.

Mt Barker and Bremer/Callington announced their return to A Grade cricket for the first time since 2011/12.

The 2018/19 A Grade season will commence on Saturday 6 October, with further information about the program and other grades available soon.

Here's some more info from the A&EHCA website about Mt Barker and Bremer/Callington returning to A Grade:

MT BARKER AND BREMER/CALLINGTON FLAG A GRADE RETURN

The Mount Barker and Bremer/Callington Cricket Clubs have announced their return to the Alexandra and Eastern Hills Cricket Association A Grade competition in 2018/2019.

The two clubs last fielded teams in the premier grade in 2011/2012 when the A&EHCA A Grade competition featured a record 11 clubs.

During that season, Mount Barker failed to win a match and Bremer/Callington finished the season in ninth place.

Since then, both clubs have been steadily rebuilding and are now ready to compete at the top level once again.

Bremer/Callington are coming off a successful 2017/2018 that saw them finish minor premiers before going on to defeat Nairne in the A2 Grade grand final.

The Cobras boast a side packed full of young homegrown talent including two sets of brothers who have been performing particularly well over the past few seasons.

The Leigh brothers (Stewart and Xavier) and the Fitzgerald brothers (Nathan, Johnny and Brandon) are all Callington locals who have been central to the club’s recent success.

Bremer/Callington are yet to win an A&EHCA A Grade premiership since the association was formed in 1983/1984 with their last taste of success back in 1969/1970 when they took out the A Grade premiership of the Mount Barker and Eastern Hills Cricket Association.

Mount Barker narrowly missed out on playing finals in the A2 Grade competition last year but showed signs that they are a club on the rise.

The Kookaburras have a proud history and have enjoyed plenty of success over the years, however their last A Grade premiership was 25 years ago.

Talented young Mount Barker locals such as Rhys Paterson, Jackson Lane and Deklan Porter have proved more than capable at A2 level and will further benefit from competing against the A&EHCA’s top players.

A&EHCA President Joe Hill has applauded both clubs for making the big step up.

“It’s fantastic to see both clubs so committed to developing their youngsters over the past few years,” Joe said.

“They’ve invested a lot of time and effort and now it’s beginning to pay dividends.

“It’s healthy for our association to have as many clubs as possible striving to compete at A Grade level so we congratulate Mount Barker and Bremer/Callington for taking the step up.”

The Ashbourne Cricket Club has indicated that it won’t be fielding an A Grade team in 2018/2019 which would see nine clubs competing at the top tier.

Very quiet in here, for this time of year. When is the A&EH AGM? Final senior team nominations etc. Congrats to the 2 clubs for stepping up to A Grade. I would like to see my old mob make the move...... one day.
