From the clearance pages I see another player leaving the Emus, Aaiden Baker to Macclefield.
Counting down the list that makes 13 clearances out and zero in. Not all A Grade players but depleats the depth.

Emus looks like it has only opened the exit door, surely things can't be good if players are just walking away.
New coach - maybe things are not going as expected, wonder how long it will last and how many more will leave before the club puts things in place if they haven't already.

What do you propose they ‘put in place’?? Sack the coach before Round 1?? That won’t bring back any players that have left. Hopefully they have spoken the players leaving to understand their reasons, then let them leave amicably, so they can come back whenever they want and be welcomed with open arms.

i would have thought you would have contacted your senior list prior to preseason ( they may have, may not have ) but surely communication is an issue! You don't have that many go and none come in if communication is good.
Sacking the coach before Rd 1 isn't the solution but you would would hope by now they have a clear understanding on who is playing and who else is going. Then reset and move forward or use the old we are focusing on developing juniors as an excuse for poor management.
Either way they will struggle this year.

Surely all 9 clubs have all junior sides now?

My concern is there will be no Sunday junior comp for overflow of players.

Maybe that's the problem, some clubs struggle for junior numbers while others have an overflow of players. If every club had one junior team in each age group the program would be easy.

All clubs that have had problems fielding junior teams in the past - Lonsdale, MV Park, Marion and Hackham - all gone, then there will be no issue for the remaining 9 clubs in having a full quite of juniors surely?

That's a big increase. If those numbers are correct then $2K has clearly been quite generous but bumping it up by 500% is a bit stiff and surely not within the current budget of a league with only 9 and a bit clubs. I'm pretty sure every club left in the SFL is now fully or mostly in the SAFC Zone so you would think there is an ongoing benefit for the SAFC to assist the SFL where possible. I can understand that the current rental arrangement probably includes the promise of SFL GF day but if the SFL has to move base then the time would appear right to take GF day back to the club grounds.

That is my question, 13 15 17.5 required on Sat........Have all clubs confirmed sides? Think the major issues will be 13's and 15's for some clubs, school footy is dragging many kids away on Saturdays.

If that's correct, they should relocate as soon as current lease is up. Surely there would be additional space somewhere more affordable, possibly some unused council facility or similar. As a community league you would hope that could be found. I also believe it's time to return the grand final to the club grounds. Better spectacle, better atmosphere and played at a suburban ground that represents the league and what it consists of. Then hopefully we could have presentations conducted at a slightly more upmarket location than the rear of the change rooms for the juniors and lower grades.

SFL GF Day could be a great event with a bit of planning, some additional kids activities, band for halftime etc etc. Could be a much better spectacle instead of a sterile environment with no atmosphere.

Think the major issues will be 13's and 15's for some clubs, school footy is dragging many kids away on Saturdays.

I think the major issues I've heard is the u17.5's, seems a real struggle for numbers in this grade.

Not sure how the financial governance works between Jimmy Deane's and the SAFC proper, but JD's does dome pretty good trade of its own on SFL GF day regardless of the drink and food outlets run by the clubs.

Yes, I realise why they do it, it just makes more sense to do it next to the grandstand or on the grass hill. A bit more dignified.
