John Cahill offered the job at South Adelaide

Postby Sojourner » Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:09 pm

Rumour is moving from warm to hot at the moment, apparently Mark Bickley announced on Channel Nine news this evening that South have formally approached Cahill and offered him the position.

Interesting, it gains momentum after KG drops it on air.

Not sure how closely tied Bickley is to South anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't been there in years.

However, a coup if they get his signature - better than all of their interstate playing recruits put together over the last few years.

The Panthers will have to install one of those seat-lifts in the grandstand at Noarlunga if Jack accepts the gig...

Desperate times.

See if they can get Sheedy as his assistant.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Isn't he originally from South?

Cahill won the 1960(?) McCallum Medal when playing for South. His uncle and father both played for South.

Is Jack Cahill proud of his south heritage I wonder?
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

It's a major case of what could of been.

If Jack Cahill stayed at south and Fos stayed at westies we could have the current lowest crowd pullers as the biggest.

But we'd still hate Port of course.

They the powers to be at South will adding some late additions to the facility upgrade - an enclosed airconditioned coaches box at ground level with wheel chair access if Cahill get the job.

Does he get a "smart care alert pendant" in case he gets into trouble as part of his package?

Sorry Ian, but i have spoken to the great man himself - he has NOT applied for the job, and will NOT accept the role even if someone from south approaches him....

So that rules out Barrie, Russell and Graham.....what about Jack though....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Stupid choice if this is true, too old, doesn't care about SAFC, is well known to be a money man, short term prospect (2 years at most), cannot relate to youth playing in todays SANFL his success has been Port and Port only. This will prove a failure for both SAFC and Cahill himself. There is only one choice, Darren Trevena, he bring everthing to the club that is required, offer him the $$ and get a long term coach who relates to youth, knows how to coach, is a South past player, and a bloody good one, and will have the best interest of SAFC at heart.
