Re: South Australian Churches and Community Cricket Association
The Association AGM was on tonight. Key points:
Executive committee remains basically the same
Proposed rule change to reduce the overs in one-day games from 40 to 36 was voted 11 all, and hence just failed.
Bowlers can now bowl a maximum of 8 overs in one-day games rather than 10. (my proposal that was accepted unanimously
)
Hot weather policy cutoff was reduced from 40 to 38
Delegates were split on whether to play Sunday finals
Lots of other unimportant discussion like usual
New teams are Paralowie and Northern Wolves. Ross Smith Tigers and Blackwood have left.

38 for hot weather getting a little touchy Ecky?
I know a heat policy should be in place for the good of all. But,IMO,its summer, its hot you play cricket you know what the deal is.As I said though, for the good of all a policy must be in place. For mine,if it is over 39,you cancel.

Well I was one of those who voted to keep it at 40 degrees - my concern was that if you lower it too much, we could have a season where only half the games are completed. The vote went something like 8-13 to keep it at 40.
If people are concerned about the heat, I don't see why we can't just have very regular drinks breaks (every 30 mins or even more), or reduce the length of the day somewhat. That is surely better than not playing at all.
As I walked out of the meeting I commented - just wait until a couple 38 degree days costs a couple teams a chance of making the finals, and next year they will all be voting to put it back up to 40!

Re: South Australian Churches and Community Cricket Association
I think if people are committing to Saturday at cricket, and most would only get grief from 'her-in-doors',start at 11:00 am,finish by 3:30,done.
Now junior sport is an issue, but if it is over 38 the kids would not be playing. We start at 1:30,the hottest part of the day,why not kick of 2 hours earleir, finish earlier?

Why not start at 2:30 - 3 and finish at 6:30 - 7. Twilight Cricket how good would that be.

What is happening in Div 3 this year. Enfield A, B and C grade are all in this division. Surely this can't happen.

I'm sure this was never going to happen. I believe Enfield has requested their teams to all be in different divisions.

This is all yet to be decided. Each club submitted their requests (both in terms of divisions and how many 1 or 2 day games) at the AGM on Monday night, and now the executive committee will have a meeting where this will be decided.

As you can see here, everyone has a different opinion on what time and for how long the games should be played.
Games will never start at 11am because many of the grounds are used for junior cricket in the mornings.

Re: South Australian Churches and Community Cricket Association
i think all the Div 1 teams were pretty close last year except for NEK, Rose Park only missed out on like 0.1% of reaching finals. so pretty competitive Shame about Ross Smith Tigers leaving.
