Kerr Out for Season

Postby Pup » Wed Aug 22, 2007 10:40 am

Rumours on 6pr in Perth that Daniel Kerr is out for the rest of the season with a finger injury.

Have not heard anything official yet but if true, it will be a massive loss especially with a partially fit Judd and more injuries in the last two weeks.

May struggle for back to back if this is the case.

Won't believe this one until it is confirmed but FYI, the last time Geelong played West Coast with Judd, Cox, Kerr and Cousins in Victoria we won by about 13 goals, five weeks before they qualified for the 2005 Grand Final. I reckon they'll struggle to get back to back regardless of whether this one is true or just a furphy.

How did you not win the 2005 Grand Final then?

They will still be a big danger come finals time. Finals experience is invaluable...

Make no mistake, WCE have had a terrible run with injuries. This is not an excuse as they have also played some poor footy at times but look who they have missed for times during the year.

Cousins, Judd, Embley, Fletcher, Possibly now Kerr, Hansen, Chick, Nicoski, Wirra, Hunter, Butler, Graham, Waters

In the last two weeks they have lost Embley, Cousins, Judd and now Kerr as well as Chick. That is like taking Harvey, Harris, McIntosh, Sinclair, Swallow out of the Kangaroos side or taking Corey, Ablett, Bartel, Ling and Enright out of Geelongs side. How would both these sides go without these players?

Not too well you wouldnt expect?

Very true.
What else needs to be mentioned is for the so called bad year they are having when they are apparently not premiership contenders they are still sitting equal second.

I'm one of Dutchy's WCE lovers - not that I love them but I picked them as Geelong's opponent in the GF

Based on:

- Judd & co all being available
- if they finished second

If those 2 assumptions don't hold then I agree it will be a struggle for them and you'd have to look at Port  or Kangas

what about the Hawks?

i think if Port and Hawks play again, Hawks will win easily if its in Victoria

Hawks a chance for sure - it's so even below Geelong that anything could happen really

Usually it's 2 of the top 4 teams that make the GF and my prediction at this stage is for Cats, WCE, Port and Kangas in top 4

Kerr out for 6 weeks - had opertaion to re-attach ruptured tendon on ring finger on his left hand. He could have played on without surgery, but wouldve risked long term damage. Worsfold has been quoted as saying that the only chance of having Kerr back is if they make the GF.

IMHO, West Coast now goooooooonnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeee

Kerr out for the year.
Judd won't be right before the end of September, no matter how many horse needles they give him.
Hansen very important but often injured.
Embley I don't think is quite right either.
Waters and Wirrpanda under injury clouds.

Cousins' past sins will be all forgotten if he can bring them home the bacon from here.
