Not quite a restaurant or a pub, but went into Port Adelaide this arvo and spent a couple of hours in a new winebar just east of the Port Admiral called “Michonne”. Good selection of wines, and some tasty cheeses, meats, and fancy toasted sandwiches. Not necessarily a cheap experience but definitely worth a squiz if you’re looking for something a bit upmarket and different in the heart of the Port.

After that, we noticed across the road a new Mexican taqueria that does some very tasty tacos (one we sampled had slow cooked beef, another chilli chicken) served in a traditional soft tortilla. Again, not cheap (tacos clock in at about 7 to 8 bucks each) if you’re in hunger demolition mode but very tasty and goes alright if you’re up for something original and a bit more informal.

Good to see people coming into the Port and finding places worth trying.

Next time pop into Korked wine bar. Best garlic bread you'll ever try.

We really enjoy popping into the heart of the Port, plenty of history and it seems there’s now a real critical mass of quality places to eat and drink. Certainly beats the shit out of what’s available for dining and drinking at Mawson Lakes.

We went for a short wander to check out the re-done Port Admiral (absolutely pumping, probably not surprising) and on our way walked past Korked. Looked like a nice cosy little spot with a bit of live music. Thanks for the tip, we’ll bung it on the list.

Try the Goodiesons Pale while there....

Sunday arvo is a good time to pop into Korked, usually something on out in the little garden area out the back.

Goodiesons do have a unique way of brewing and goes down quite nicely.
If you are ever down at McLaren Vale its well worth visiting.

Chicken parmi.....superb
Chicken schnit with mushroom gravy was also delish.
Chips were served in those buckets.

Just waiting on dessert. But so far so good. Only exception being you have 2 bites of your main and get asked if everything is alright....just not here but creeping in everywhere.....if theres a problem you will know about it...

Bought a slab of Asahi on special for $42.
Thought it was a good buy until I got it home and drank half a dozen before realising it was only mid strength.
Didn’t know they did a mid strength Asahi until then.

Tasted the same but I still felt ripped off!

Nah its shit, my father in law went to Dan Murphys and one of the employees suggested he buy a carton cause he likes normal Asahi, didn't realise it was mid strength until I pointed it out, labels are almost identical. He wasn't happy, he took it back and got a refund even though there was only 19 bottles left

Service 8/10... deduction for interrupting 2 bites in.

Food- solid 8/10. A pub shouldn't get a parmi wrong.... these guys got it spot on.

The labels are the same except for the small writing on the back that said 3%.
Normally mid strength beers have it on the front and market it that way.

Good on him for taking them back too.

Only the best Thai restaurant around, it's on Churchill Road, cheap, no frills family place, great food, great service.

If your bill comes in at say $58, they'll say, fifty is fine thanks, beers and soft drinks are cheap as too.

Indeed. Great food in an endearingly crusty little joint. Haven't had the privilege of eating-in as yet, only had take-away. Might have to put that one on the agenda.

I work at Gepps Cross and one co-worker stays back so she can get a take-away on her way home yet she lives at Craigmore, die-hard fan.

$20 each and a group of 4 will have a couple of beers and walk away well fed.

I love my Thai food so I’ll have to try it out next time I’m out that way next.

Rose Garden sounds similar to Angkor on Woody Rd, no frills inside but the food is sensational and costs buggerall by comparison to most other places

If you go to the Rose Garden get the Hor Mok Talay, top of the Chefs specials liat, its like nothing I've ever had and something I wouldn't normally get but it is amazing. Its squid, prawns and mussells cooked in a special Thai sauce served in a flambe'. About $16 from memory.

They have a good separate gluten free menu if you ask for it too.

Overpriced but freaking amazing. In the top 3 restaurants in the state if not the best.
