Prices for food were reasonable but the mark up on wines looked a little excessive to me.
A lot of places are getting a bit pricey in that regard. I get a bit turned off when I notice the price per glass is about what I'd pay for a whole bottle of something just as good at Dan Murphys. Sure a mark up is fair - but 600%!!
I went to a birthday gig not long ago where the venue wanted $50 "cakeage" to cut the cake and supply plates and cutlery from the hosts.
We ate the cake off of napkins after it was cut with a plastic fork.

I'd do the same, or, if really pipped off, maybe cut it with the fork on the table cloth...
I have been known to got into a restaurant, be seated, read the menu then, quietly and politely (but noticeably), get up and leave, if it is a real rip off.
I'm going to a restaurant that has a good reputation for food quality tonight and haven't seen their menu or prices, but in this case it doesn't matter because a pharmaceutical company if footing the bill for the group - it is an educational event with a Tasmanian medical expert as speaker.
