Golfs a funny game, our course is in the best shape I've ever seen it in yet collectively as a club the score averages have slightly gone up it's a bit weird.

They have strategically placed new trees and new tee blocks to raise the course slope rating I guess that's playing its part.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

The one thing that pissed me off was a nice chip shot over a bunker but below some low hanging trees i was below the green by 2m or so but heard it rattle the flag and of course it didnt drop straight down, it came racing back towards me but luckily it stopped before the bunker...
One day....

A fortnight ago 12 of us headed down to the Mornington Peninsula (Rye) for the annual “Golden Shaft” tournament which is heading into its eighth year.
Friday - The Dunes
I’ve never, ever played in such wind - borderline gale force! Jason Day rates this in his top 5 courses in Australia.
I would say we were wind assisted on maybe 2-3 holes, the rest was hard work. Fairways are generous enough in width but if you miss, say goodbye to your ball. Tough going on a testing course.
Saturday - Moonah
This course is magnificent, great layout without being impossible. Plenty of 2 tier greens and some 140+ bunkers keep you thinking.
Not recommended with a hangover.
Sunday - Devilbend
Picture Belair but a bit tougher. Perfect for our Ambrose event. The best I hit it all weekend, too little too late!

Great part of the world obviously with so many courses to play, if you can - do yourselves a favour. There’s plenty of affordable accommodation.

Nice wrap Spargo. I'm not going to mention pics. I am yet to work out how to post them so all good.

Played some course in Sydney Thursday, many details blurry. Average track Carnavon may be the name. Short, tight layout, greens were very good. We had a no show, so a group of 3 in Ambrose is hard work. Despite that we were 5 or 6 over the card with a huge handicap and finished mid field. Managed to snare an NTP on the 16th, only to find out that this was the hole my company sponsored so I won one of the prizes bags I organised.. great! Chipped and putted better than I normally do but the driver was being a beeeaarchh all day. Only hit 2 or 3 decent ones. On our 3rd hole I blasted one right off the tee, onto the road over the fence and into the oncoming traffic! Copious drinking and frivolity followed, still hungover now. Never drinking ever again..... ever!

Today's effort was 86 for 37pts with Stableford...

Before commencement.....we were last group in the morning.

One lad in our grouo had a 38 another a 40.

Leader playing off 27 had a lazy 48pts.....

Anyways playing on the cored greens made life interesting.... chips that are executed perfectly....well how i wanted to hit them still managed to keep rolling through the sand....yet some putts stopped dead....

The rest of the game was quite sound so cant really complain.
