Robert Harvey is an absolute champ! I personally have never liked the Saints but I watched them play because of that great man Robert Harvey. Well done to a great career and hopefully he goes around another year.

One of very few universally repsected AFL players - you may not like him as a player but hell you respect him.
Would be hard pressed to be topped as the Saints all time greatest.

I think you will find that a few years after he's retired, he'll be considered the greatest St Kilda player ever.

350 + games (& record-holder)
Several B&F's

All Australian (several times)
1 club player
& humble about it all- don't recall him ever being arrested for drunk & disorderly/assault/drink driving etc, or any speculation over drugs (recreational or otherwise...)
all the above= LEGEND (a word thrown about far too easily these days...)

Spot on, well said mate!

All personal opinion I know, but Harvey is easily in my Top 10 ever seen and pretty high up ... Champion bloke on and off the field .. His quiet lifestyle always seemed out of place at a club like that Saints!

his quick side step to get in the clear or out of trouble is a special skill that not many players have ever had or are likely to hold in the future, remember a game in 1997 against Port and he jsut had them all spell bound

Remember a Prelim on 04 when he was the only bloke keeping them in it until 1/2 time.

That club has had some fantastic players alongside him in his time. How the **** they've done nothing has me baffled.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

0 Premierships.
Wouldn't put him in the Top 20.
Thanks for nothing.

Thanks for nothing?? Call yourself a St Kilda supporter? Go on Saintsational and say that. Harvey couldn't have done anything more for the club and is a genuine champion. That would be like me saying the same thing about Budda Hocking or Gary Ablett. Ridiculous post 66.

Yep.
Winning flags is what is ALL about.

It's typical for the STK supporter to lavish praise on INDIVIDUALS and not its great
premiership teams. I'd rather talk about flags, but that makes me a minority amongst
the hopelessly misty-eyed Saints supporter.
Sorry, bit I've had a f%$^*@# gutful of this club perpetually screwing up whilst its
brain-dead supporters crap on about how great this or that player was/is.
PREMIERSHIPS.
Bottom line.
Don't bother me about 'greatness' unless you've won one.
