No mate, I didn't. I've had a look at it for 2018 but will probably have a friends or my brothers 50th over seas so unlikely to be going to Shanghai in 2018. If I don't I WILL be ( Mrs Boon ) in 2019.

Packages through the club start at around $1600 for a 3 night trip, $2100 for 4 nights, $2800 for 5 nights, this includes return airfares ( economy ), transfers, accommodation, breakfast and on the 4 or 5 night trips a tour or two, tickets to the game and single entry Visa into China.

Of course, like everyone else does but I'm happy he at least put up a fight. Futile, but he put up a fight.

Pretty steep prices.
Travelling independently would cost you far less although getting the game ticket would be potentially a problem?

It's a joke that you are playing GC who Port clearly don't want to be there for a myriad of reasons. AFL have to be enforcing this. Stinks.

I think the beauty of it is the ease of the "packages", they take care of everything from flights, accommodation, visas, transfers etc which for less seasoned travelers would seem fairly overwhelming when you're talking about going to China.

You're also going with a group so from the moment you get to the airport you're with like minded people. All Port people, sound inviting mate? :D

Of course they are. Any independently run club wouldn't be willing to just give up a home game as the Suns do.

In all reality who cares if they do, about 6000 people?

It is a little expensive, I did a quick flight search for a 10 day return trip was around $600 and then can get accommodation anywhere from $30 p/n to $300 p/n

Reckon you could do plenty for the same amount as PAFC are offering for their packages, and have a lot more freedom.

Do agree packages though do take away a lot of stress for people and are quick and simple.

I’d go if we were playing. Love Shanghai and it’s a very easy city to get around. There are 2 week fully guided tours of China including air fares for that price, I’d be trying to get one that starts or ends in Shanghai around that date and make a holiday of it

I have zero doubt you could get it a lot cheaper if you did it all yourself. Surely their is other ways to get tickets?

I recommend heading over there one day mate. It was surprisingly good... And if you do you NEED to stay at Disney for a couple of nights. Worth it....

Just checked flights from Adelaide to Shanghai from 17/5/18 to 24/5. 671 return qantas (rather fly pretty much anyone else but they are the cheap3st I’ve seen so far).. Wouldn’t expect the ticket for the game to be too expensive

I've managed to find some for $455 via China Southern if you travel Sun/Mon

Yep, flights usually $550-700 from Adelaide, plenty of good priced accommodation. Reckon a couple could easily save $1000

Exactly mate. Package is a rip off imo

And if you are only going for a couple of days there is a 72hr VOA which is hassle free. China Southern is excellent and they give you a free night stop over in Guangzhou which is also a pretty cool city

Cheapest flights I can see are around $500 with China Southern but that includes a 20 hour stop over.

I'd be going towards the $700-800 with Singapore or Qantas.

$800 per person = $1600

4 star in a Meridian in Shanghai for $210 per night x 4 nights = $840

$1600+840 = $2440 ( $4000 through the packages )

Although going on your own doesn't include the airport transfers, match day transfers to and from the game nor the tour that a 4 night trip includes.

Jim's spot on, you could save a $1000 or more per couple and do it yourself or cough up the coin and let some other **** do it.

The one I looked at was $362 return from Sunday 13-May until Monday 21-May 2018.

2hr 25min stop over on the way to Shanghai, 3h 05min stop over on the way home.
