Rockliff last night, Motlop today.

Inside ball winner and outside speed. Means Wingard and Gray can stay forward if needed, or with Motlop they can rotate through the middle with Wines, Boak, Ebert, SPP, Rockliff.

Handy couple of additions.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Bloody Port Adelaide cant keep there players out of trouble, not like at West Coast where we ha no trou........oh wait a sec......so yeah Rockliff looks like a good pick up.

Who does Rockliff push out?

In my mind he's competing with Wines, Ebert and Boak and I have all three ahead of him tbh.

Can Ebert play on a wing? Will Boak play more of a permanent HFF role? Perhaps one will rotate off the bench with SPP?

Whilst Rockliff is a very good player, you have plenty of his type.

If you can get Motlop that’ll definitely add value as you need some outside run.

You can if you then have no one to give it too......
You need someone to stay off the contest........ a bit like what they recruited Polec for.

Rockliff comes in, Wingard goes forward, Neade goes out.

From the elimination final side :

Neade out, Boak from mid>HF, Rockliff to mid.

B Jasper Pittard, Tom Clurey, Riley Bonner
HB Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dougal Howard, Hamish Hartlett
C Justin Westhoff, Ollie Wines, Jared Polec
HF Travis Boak, Todd Marshall, Robbie Gray
F Sam Gray, Charlie Dixon, Chad Wingard
FOL Paddy Ryder, Brad Ebert, Tom Rockliff
I/C Sam Powell-Pepper, Karl Amon, Jarman Impey, Dan Houston

If, as I expect, Motlop comes on board today, Sam Gray to bench, Amon out, Motlop in the pocket.

B Jasper Pittard, Tom Clurey, Riley Bonner
HB Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dougal Howard, Hamish Hartlett
C Justin Westhoff, Ollie Wines, Jared Polec
HF Travis Boak, Todd Marshall, Robbie Gray
F Steve Motlop, Charlie Dixon, Chad Wingard
FOL Paddy Ryder, Brad Ebert, Tom Rockliff
I/C Sam Powell-Pepper, Sam Gray, Jarman Impey, Dan Houston

I agree, but the Rockliff addition makes more sense when you look at it in conjunction with getting Motlop.

I don't agree with you, I'd take Rocky any day of the week, I think Port lack the hardness around the ball at times.

Ranked 3rd in the league for contested possessions. 17th in the league for disposal efficiency.

Sorry mate, we absolutely need class and polish.

But... you can get class and polish when you have time and space, which effective contested ball winners get you. With Port its a case of throwing everything into the coal face and in turn rushing kicks and spraying them. With a better balance eg adding Rockliff AND Motlop, that will enable some of our better ball users to stay on the outside more. As Booney mentioned.

Rockliff has such bad shoulders I am really surprised Port have agreed to terms. I know that is why Adelaide said ‘no thanks’ last year and then he injured the same shoulder again this season
