Hawthorn were “slow” for years but their foot skills more than made up for it.

So although quick players would be good I think good kicks are more important for our game style

I agree with you mate, it's just a matter of whether you think this group will be able to do it under extreme pressure and in the spotlight. There's a lot of examples of Betts, Mackay, B Crouch, Douglas, Otten, Jenkins, Walker, Atkins, Knight etc., not being able to cut it at important times. (Im sure there's also examples of times they could). I have my doubts about them being able to avoid that downhill skier label, but as I said in another post, many said similar about Port of 99'-03' but they stayed the course and got there.

I worry when off-season rolls around with our history of losing our best players. We won't win a flag if we keep losing them.

The notion of "Plan B" in football is very different today than it was decades ago. Teams spend the best part of 12 months honing the style they want to play, and whilst they might tinker with it, or plan for matchups etc that change on a regular basis, they're not going to stray too far from what they spend all year crafting, especially late in a season.

Speaking with an esteemed football brain this morning, and discussing the Crows lack of individual star power (ie, top 10 drat pick types), he reckons they should almost be planning to get their draft picks right for next years draft, and try to land either Rankine or Lukocious (sp?) if they can. Food for thought.

They looked very slow on the weekend (as all sides do when they're getting well beaten), but taking out Cameron and Smith doesn't help on that front, and as quality as he is, adding Gibbs wouldn't be the answer either.

Admittedly, all year Adelaide could cover that lack of pace with their speed of ball movement, but delivering that under the most intense pressure may or may not be something thats fixable.

Apparently we have already been wining and dining Lukocious and his parents so perhaps we are trying to trade in an early first rounder next year.

To be fair, most blokes are very tolerant when placed in front of a couple of cans.

This has been poorly handled by all parties. Lever with a selfish money grab, the club stand off tactics for trading the player and club management taking pot shots at player management.
