You'd be gutted about your team and own performance, and it's really all about the winners so say your bit and get off the mic asap. Guessing it didn't come across that way though?

When giving a speech you need to remember the three "G"s of speechmaking, Be: Gracious, Greatful, Get off

he was Gracious to Richmond,
he was greatful to the sponsors, AFL and the fans
he Got off, within 30 s

Perfect speech in many ways

I think it was his tone of voice rather than what he said that has caused the stir. (I'm not sure what people expect though)

Oh well to be honest I'll never get sick of the Stare Crows captain having to make losing speeches

Is this what the game has progressed too...critiquing speeches?

His speech was still better than his onfield performance unfortunately.

I think the only reason its been critiqued was because the Cowboys captain made such a better effort yesterday.
Couldn't care less myself though. The guy's a country boy from Broken Hill, not a Harvard graduate.

I think this is the point. Walker sounded like he didn't give a shit, but then again, his team lost why should he? It's certainly understandable. What you see is what you get with Tex, I don't think he's bright enough to put on a pretend smile and dish out false platitudes. And in today's' plastic footy media-managed environment that's a positive.

The real problem was he didn't give a shit when the match was on and when the side needed a real leader to step up in terms of gameplay and physicality.

Cannot see the fuss here, perfect speech from the wrong side of the outcome.

Easier to give a nod to their better players. Sloane, Jacobs, M. Crouch, Talia, Laird are all genuine. Then there's those that fall in the middle. Talking to a bloke today who made the observation, the crows play "perfect footy", in that when it gets a bit scrappy they don't cope. Big finals, pressure, away from AO...they were unable to "find a way". If Cameron wants to go, let him. Has pace, but not a lot of poise. Gibbs will help, but is that enough?

I actually don't know how it's different to being at home, does crowd make that big of a factor? Don't know. If it's mental then we need a coach installing a Malcolm Blight like phrase. As I believe he was great at telling players that the MCG is just like home because it has grass and goalposts
I would like Gibbs as I think it'll add something to our midfield. He should have been a crow to start with but that's another story. We need ruck cover and another intercept defender to cover Lever. I actually liked Hampton before he was injured and believe he would have been in the team had he not been injured. I just don't want to see us do nothing in the off season. I reckon this is an important trade period

On the away record thing. I had a quick look and I believe the only top 8 team the crows beat away from home was Essendon. Happy to stand corrected here. Looking at the draw, the crows played more of the top 8 sides at home rather than away.

We did have a win agaisnt the Hawks at the G before we knew how their season would play out. At the time it was a good win. Next season I guess we’ll play everyone around us home and away.

Yes correct the Hawks were good in the first quarter that day, then you guys belted us. I'm not having a go at the draw by the way, just an observation. You can only play and beat who you play. I believe there is something in it though.

I think most of observers thought the crows this year were different to previous years. We had some good wins against good opposition in scrappy games which we haven’t had in previous years. That just wasn’t there on the weekend. Richmond’s pressure was exceptional and exposed us.

In general I can’t see us changing too much. Ball using midfielders are still what we need. Going after Gibbs again would be good.

If lever and Cameron go it won’t be the end of the world. Some top end talent from the draft or a good player or two will come our way.

Easy to pot players like Douglas and Mackay when we get pumped but both of those lads have been excellent all year.

Having said that we would want players like Milera and galluchi and this years draft picks to come through and displace those sorts of guys.

I can’t see any of our top liners dropping off too much so that holds us in good stead.

We were nowhere good enough on the day but I don’t think it’s panic stations. We will be there abouts next year.

Good to see you are philosophical about the game and result Benny. I'm kicking myself for not putting some coin on Richmond now, as I doubted the Crows away form (as noted in a few of my earlier posts) I didn't see the 48pt margin though. I think you need to make changes not wholesale ones but changes nonetheless. I'm just a mug punter with an opinion, but if you don't change things, good chance you get a similar result.

a similar result would suit me just fine - top of the ladder, two crushing wins against decent opposition, and a grand final appearance against a team that most people thought was inferior.

obviously it didnt work out on the day and we weren't good enough for the last game but if i can have a repeat season up until the last game im obviously taking it

I've watched the last quarter 3 times already, what a day Saturday was. Still can't believe we won & won so convincingly.

The vision after Butler's goal with Benny Gale & Richo in tears will be the moment that sits with me forever.

Just wish the great man Dennis Cometti had stuck around for one more year to call a game I'll watch for years to come.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
