How does that work?
Does that mean perhaps North got more contested balls out of packs but the Eagles won more contested balls in one on one contests or similar?

I suspect that's due to North winning the ball at stoppages more, but the total contested possessions also count close-in possesions at any time i.e. not after a ball up or throw in. Basically what you said, execpt also in pack situations in general play.

I didn't think it was a smart arsed question anyway, it's only 10 years ago when a lot of those categories were unheard of.
