I asked the question whether his comments were designed to push ken out.

And I saw the video of his comments and formed my opinion from that. He was definitely criticising ken too - selection policies has nothing to do with the players
Jesus, Occam's Razor man.

If saying "We picked some young players, maybe that was right or not we're unsure, we have to work that out" is critical of Ken's selection policy and hes spat it because of that than he is the biggest man baby in the industry and he doesn't have the mental fortitude and or maturity to cope with the ruthlessness of getting to an AFL flag.

It would be much simpler than that - simply a value proposition negotiation, I suspect.

If he'd have said to Hinkley before the game that the selection of the young players was a mistake or if those young players were the reason Port lost, then I'd agree. Port lost because the PLAYERS didn't kick straight when the game was there to be won, not because of Ken's coaching or selections.

I'd agree, but think there are parts of our innacuracy that are the fault of our forward structure, ball movement and decision making. Which would be metrics one would measure a senior coach against, I would suggest

You're joking right? It's a profession and a career - Hinkley & co. need to make good business decisions for their careers.

If Hinkley chooses to go for financial gain and stability, because he feels that's best for him and his career, not sure how that reflects on the club and gives the impression of not having a united front.

Coaches/Assistant Coaches/Players move around every year..

im not talking about hinkley, i am talking about koch's comments and his failure to present a united front with the coaching staff after a heartbreaking loss.

a new coach would be right to be wary of that if they were going to take on the head coaching role.

I ask the same question every day, sadly, my efforts of getting the Mitchell Park reserves to within a percentage of the finals in D6 has never been seen in the light that it ought to have been.

Will be submitting an application nonetheless.

Outrageous. Obviously the brains trust at Mitchell Park run ridiculously complex metrics.

Failure to play finals in D6R is failure as a coach.. I would've sacked you or moved you to the Gold Coast as well :D

My metrics were:

1. Ensure no one from my team belts anyone
2. Ensure we have 16+ players every week at the same place at the same time in a semblance of a uniform
3. Pick a team that matches a rough football strucutre
4. Try and win games

If you know the bunch of pelicans involved at our club, I reckon achieving 1-4 is a more impressive task than taking charge of an AFL club.

Started with 12 vs TOS, ended with 20. Understandable considering its in another state.

I didn't have any players belt anyone! Close. But he missed  McBride was an absolute farce.

Given the way the scuttlebutt that is being discussed, Hinkley would have to be seriously weighing up this option.
Will it be worth him staying on, given the baggage that has come from these discussions?

I guess it depends on the validity of these public discussions. If it's all bollocks, they'll ( KT, Koch, Ken ) laugh it off over a beer at the BnF, if it's got weight behind it I would doubt he stays.

Seems to be more than bollocks though, even if it's not as amped up as the media/social media chatter would suggest.

True, but professionals with big ego's in the public arena might be more pragmatic behind closed doors with each other.

This is exactly where Ken is at, he came from the Geelong sides of the 80s and 90s, mentally tough was definitely not one of their biggest attributes.

From Ken's perspective, another 12 months at Port, have a season where they don't make finals and this time next year he is on the coaching scrapheap.

or

Take 5 years at Gold Coast on an increased pay packet, where the expectation for the first 2 years won't be high and involved in a club where he has history.

I suspect he will stay at Port, but it will be more on his terms now.

2 years at notso huge coin with Port, fail and he's on the scrap heap.

Depends on whether Hinkley wants job security or cash

Stay with Port and the whole GC thing will prove perfect leverage to command a great deal

Go to GC and literally get two years scrutiny free coaching, Port miss finals next year and he might be out of a job anyway

I've heard Hinkley went for a piss, reports are it was slightly gold in colour, might not be a good sign.
