Tbh, to get where they did with so many kids and so many players who were in and out of the side all season, they did well to get where they were.
Dixon was massive. They need to have a bit more faith in him and get more around him when the ball comes to ground.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Because noting the bleedingly obvious is totally related to where one grows up, Booney.

Our forward line structure has been utter shit since we got the curtain out for Schulz and never replaced him with a like for like. Everyone can see it bar the Hinkley dick riders and sycophants. Not saying it's easy to solve or that I have the answers, but it's pretty ******* obvious what our problems are.

We are over emphasising defensive pressure in our forward line. We have Dixon, the poor ****, running around on the wings laying tackles, taking marks on the half forward line, sprinting back into pockets, double leading, triple leading, rucking, contested marking. Then when he plucks one, we wonder why he cant kick through the ball with purpose?!

Have you ever played full forward? I have. A lot. Kicking at goal is a difficult skill to master and when you have heavy legs it's infinitely more difficult. Combine that with our pocket strategy (straight out of the Chocco Williams-Brendan Lade '07' hand book) and then with our selection policy (Neade, Impey, Gray is too many pressure forwards) and it's really quite simple why we often have more inside 50s but don't convert those chances.

Structure - no medium forward, over reliance on Dixon doing everything.
Method - kicking to the pockets to force throw ins and close out the opposite side switch to lock it in.
Selection - picking too many dudes who simply cant kick goals ore giving them roles which are focused on pressure, instead of scoring.

That combined with mental weakness is why we kicked 10.16 and West Coast kicked 12.6.

Yes, Dixon still should've kicked one of his shots, same with Wingard. But Ken has a lot to answer for too.

Always struggle with "supporters" who don't seem to do much "supporting".

**** this, **** that, shit at this, shit at that, can't do this, should do that.....blah blah ******* blah, look over there, some misery, I'll go an embrace it.

and I struggle with happy clapper "supporters" that accept mediocrity. I want Port to win flags. Status quo, quite clearly, isn't going to get us there. Change must occur.

We are doing a lot right. As I said, really happy with Marshall playing, he looks great. Dougal Howard ditto, he will be an outstanding player if he continues on and his development looks on track. Sam Powell Pepper will be an AA if he can polish up his disposal.

Our mids work damn hard. We have a good balance in there between inside and outside. Looking really promising.

Defensively we're fantastic. I was wrong about Hartlett, hes been a trooper back there. Clurey is my favourite player and will be a 250 gamer.

Probably because I'm not a Port fan, but I didn't have a problem with what Kochie had to say. Like Booney said, he has to appease the ma$$e$, but I think a few of the players do need to harden up a bit. Whilst several players weren't terrible or anything, they had several play (imho) below the levels they're capable of too often this season. Future looks good with some really good young talent, so probably a good a time as any to send a message of intent.

Nothing wrong with what he said, just shouldn't have been made to the public, Kochie needs to let Ken and the footy department do their thing. The best Presidents and seen and not heard when it comes to on field matters.

Interesting position Ken is now in, probably got a 3-4 year offer on the table from Gold Coast, 12 months left on PA contract, Port will need to look to extend his deal out to 3 years to keep him?

It'll be a 2 year extension taking him to the end of 2020 with a young side already in finals or a basket case on and off field in a cesspool for sporting franchises. There is no decision to make whatsoever.

It wasn't. It was at a private function.

Wasn't a private function, was the post match presentations in the Magarey Room that any punter can walk into. I stay when I know I'll still get the last train out, with the extra time I didn't stay as 1 - I was gutted, 2 - I wanted a drink before I went home and 3 - I wasn't sure I'd get the drink and the train.

Unfortunately next year's draw will have more games against top 8 sides.

There's only 5 double up games a season, every team plays at least 2 of those against last years top 8 even if you finish bottom 8, if you finish it the top 8 you get 3. Soft draw calls based on purely that are that are pretty irrelevant. (Note you do get lucky sometimes with the bottom 8 double ups you get)

Yep, Port are in the same situation as us. Making up numbers and gifted a spot higher on the table than we deserved thanks to a soft draw. Wouldn't be surprised if we both dropped a peg or two next year

Our double ups this year were Adelaide, West Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Collingwood.

2 sides in the 8, 2 who were meant to be or at least close ( so you could say on par with us ) and one shitter. We'll get just the same next year. Adelaide twice, another side in the top half dozen, probably an Essendon, Bulldogs or St Kilda.

I meant that it wasn't a press conference or an interview on the radio. It was a function where you needed a ticket and there wasn't a throng of media - the vast majority would have been paid up members.

Look at the bright side, we moved up a pick in the draft and you moved up 2 ;)

Either way shouldn't have been said externally (i.e. outside the paid employees at Alberton)

This is not correct.
Essendon had 4 of their 5 double ups against 2016 bottom 10 sides. (Collingwood, Carlton, Freo and Brisbane).

There is a degree of luck in it. Yes, port had 2 and 3, but the 2 we had were both 5-8, and 2 of the 3 from the bottom 10, were bottom 4 sides. There is no two ways about it, we will be unlikely to get such a nice draw in 2018.

Richmond had double-ups against St Kilda, Carlton, Freo & Brisbane this year
