I rate Dahlhaus, that wouldn't be a bad result for the crows

Lever has already informed the Dogs that he wont be going there. Its either Melbourne or Collingwood. I would think he will end up at Melbourne. They have 2 young South Australians on their list Stretch and Neal-Bullen so i wouldnt be surprised if they are put on the trade table.

Yeah true. I think we will be wanting a first rounder and a player for lever.

Say what now?

We are 7th oldest with an average age of 24.0

Take scotty thompson off our list and that age drops to 23.7 which is the 15th oldest

Jenkins, MacKay, Douglas, Betts and Jacobs will be the only 28+ year olds on our list by the start of next year.

We are ranked 15th for experience in terms of average games played, and clearly in a premiership window, so Gibbs is absolutely worth trying to get

Did you add a 29 year old in?

Not sure where you got your numbers from either.

Not sure where i got numbers from? I know where you didn't :D

7th oldest list, good that we agree that they're not particularly young.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

come on boon you're smarter than that - its clearly skewed by one really old player. the rest of our list is quite young

btw if we add a 29 year old gibbs onto our list, after taking off thompson, we are 14th oldest.

Was actually talking with a mate about this the other day, if Jake wants to head to Melbourne, what genuine offer players would be on the table?

Unless a picks deal gets done to see us give Carlton 2 early picks for Gibbs?

Is Melbourne's squad, which is tracking in the right direction plus adding Lever good enough for them to maybe offer up this years first and next years first round picks? If AFC can add Gibbs I think we could afford to offload 2 first rounders this years and next years.

If the football rumour mill is on the money it appears emerging Adelaide star Jake Lever will depart the club at season’s end.

Melbourne and Collingwood appear to lead the race to secure the key defender.

SEN’s Sam McClure reported this morning Lever met with Demon’s officials, while former St Kilda chief executive Brian Waldron said Lever to the Magpies was a done deal.

“My understanding is he’s only going to one place and they’re black and white – Collingwood,” he told SEN’s Hungry for Sport.

“He’ll go to Collingwood and he’ll tell Adelaide as much when the season is over.” But wanting to get to a club and arriving at the destination are not mutually exclusive.

Given the 21-year-old is not a free agent a trade capable of satisfying Adelaide shapes as the critical component of the equation to send the former first-round draft pick to his preferred destination.

The only guarantee in any trade is that the Crows will want to be duly compensated for losing a player with the tools to be a pillar of a defence for the next decade.

In many such star trades two first-round draft picks gets the deal done given the club being compensated is often in a rebuild phase.

But if players are asked for, which is likely given the Crows premiership window is now open, who will be the target?

The obvious choice is to target South Australians. Brodie Grundy, Tim Broomhead, Matthew Scharenberg and James Aish grew up in Adelaide and would all have some currency for the Crows.

Would Broomhead and Aish plus a draft pick be enough?

Scharenberg has had his injury concerns but has enormous upside.

Given Jacobs turns 30 next year, Grundy has some appeal. Quality ruckman are hard to find and the big Magpie is just that.

For Melbourne the targets are less obvious.

Billy Stretch, Alex Neal-Bullen, Jack Trengove, Bernie Vince and Ben Kennedy are the South Australian-grown products on the list. None are likely to create any interest for the Crows.

Jayden Hunt would given his speed.

Clayton Oliver is a midfield bull the Crows would welcome with open arms given his size.

Melbourne would baulk at such requests but the reality is to secure Lever something of note has to walk out the door.

What exactly it is that walks out the door could well determine where Lever plays in 2018, if, indeed decides to depart.

Former Adelaide captain Mark Bickley said today he was super confident the young defender would recommit to the club.

“I’m still confident that Jake Lever will play for Adelaide,” Bickley said on 5AA.

“From what I see and what I know, I’m super confident.”

Not all Crow fans share his optimism. The only thing that would soften Lever’s departure would be what comes back the other way.

In the fullness of time it’s generally how the success or failure of trades is determined.

But every other club will also be dropping old guys for young guys too.
Next year, you'll be on the wrong side of half way when it comes to ages.

BTW, I don't think the crows age is a problem.

of course. My point was its not like a West Coast or a Freo where their list profile is an issue and they need to offload some older guys. And having an old list isnt an issue if you are a contender.

With Mitchell and Petrie going at the end of the season our age profile will probably half lol.

That's right Priddiz and Butler as well. Lecras might go around again. Still we have a few oldies hanging up the frames.

What a great team performance!
Started in the middle with the Crouches and Douglas! (Brad was unreal) Hartigan and Talia down back!
Riley Knight stepped up massively and Mackay great when he had to go back for Smith!
Our pressure was relentless all night! Good to see us win a different way as well, we scraped the ball forward a lot and won the territory battle. Wasn't a free flowing game.

When Hartigan first came into the side I think everyone thought, including me, that he was a bigger spud than Ty Vickery (if that's even possible) but his last 18 months he has become a very good defender who is rarely beaten. His disposal has also improved dramatically. He was very good last night
