Club champs start Saturday but I'm playing a 2nd semi in footy Sat arvo not sure I'll be able to make it.

West Lakes today

Greens have just been cored during the week so that made life interesting on the greens.

Off the tee was fairly good. Even some mishaps went straight....is that a sign of getting better or just luck??? Mind you my first tee shot...we started on the 10th...was a scrub shot that went left and then hit a sleeper and ended up in the tree line on other side of fairway about 75m down...that was the first bad tee shot......

The course itself looks as though it has been fairly well used in recent times...

Ended up with 31 points which I'm happy with.

I gave the Costco balls a hit yesterday.
They didnt perform too bad from the tee and fairways. Hard to really gauge the putting with the greens being the way they were.

Got my tee time back, played in the first group leaving me enough time to get to footy and after 9 holes it looked a ripping decision! Started Par, Par, Birdie, Par. After 9 holes 3 over off the stick (38) and thought you beauty I'm on then it all went backwards literally in 3 holes basically

10th- Par 3- bad slice off the tee directly behind a tree chipped out, terrible chip on to the dance floor 2 putts for- double bogey
11th- Par 4- Hit in to the water got the next fat over cooked the green, very tricky pin location 3 putts- Triple bogey 7
12th- Par 4- Tee shot in anger straight in to the driving range - double bogey 6

So from penthouse to shithouse rather quickly! Finished the day with an 85 off the stick net 70 thought I'd be in the mix as its first week of club champs I didn't expect to be leading by 2 strokes! Apparently the wind really picked up for the afternoon groups.

Brings me down to 14.3 tho so off 14 this week :(

Cheers mate but anything can happen in one round let alone 2 more rounds! But I'd rather be leading than not, going to spend a bit of time on my short game during the next couple of weeks hopefully that helps.

Is your club Champs, 2 quali. Rounds, the lowest 8 of the stick over the 2 rounds then play match play, 1 v 8 etc until the final 2 play 36 hole match play? Or is it a 4 round competition?

It use to be exactly that except it was your best 3 rounds out of 4 now it's just straight 3 rounds and every round counts no match play in club champs. We do have the 'les Edwards' trophy which is played the way you explained. I love match play it's all played above your shoulders.

PLayed at the Vines last Friday, the course is amazing nick considering the weather, still not a fan of the layout though.

I've been round about 4 or 5 times and I rate how it presents, always seems to be in good nick but I agree, the "top" end of the course is a bit ho hum. I think. 1,2,3,4,5 all work well but the stretch from 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 are a bit flat for mine. A bit of "up and back" about that stretch.
