Cheap shot! Get 5 weeks for that in AFL now.

Good to see his team mate straight in, obviously no melee rules in NFL.

Isn't third man in when the fines kick in?

Not saying it's a good rule, but it's a rule nonetheless.

Luckily for him he was wearing his helmet, chest pad, knee pads, shin pads, mouth guard, box, elbow guards, elbow guard guards....

NFL. What a stupid "sport".

I always thought that after you punted the ball and everyone ran down and the blocking started, you were fair game. Sav sould have been more aware and wont make that mistake again.

Yeah it was more like a tag situation, Sav ran away while his team mate had a go. Hope Sav bought him a beer.

It was a Cheap Shot of the highest order, Punters are off limits in that situation.

Isn't that just when trying to block the punt? once the punt return is happening, the punter loses that protection

I'm pretty sure the flag was on Rocca's team mate when he came in tohave a go at Barnes. In that situation Rocca was fair game because he was 30yds down field. Sav needs to be more aware thats all. Having said that its not normally something that you do (taking out the kicker) unless he is the last man in defence.

Rocca is oldest NFL rookie

SAVERIO Rocca is set to become the oldest rookie in American Football history after confirming today he had won the battle for the Philadelphia Eagles' punting job.

Rocca will make his NFL debut against the Green Bay Packers at the famed Lambeau Field on September 10 (AEST) after impressing the Eagles enough over four pre-season games to oust incumbent punter Dirk Johnson.

The 33-year-old Rocca, who played 257 games for Collingwood and the Kangaroos and booted 748 goals, will replace fellow former AFL star Ben Graham as the oldest rookie in NFL history.

Graham was 31 when he debuted for the New York Jets in 2005. He has since cemented his place as one of the top punters in the US and recently signed a lengthy contract extension with the Jets.

Although the Eagles' official 53-man team list was not expected to be released until Sunday, Rocca told Melbourne radio SEN today he had got the job.

"One of the kickers rang me and said I might have a job and then 10 minutes later I got a call from Dirk telling me he had got cut," Rocca said.

"He wished me all the best and said if we can keep in touch over time it would be good so he was pretty good about it.

"Then later on we had a barbecue at the owner's place, all the players were at the barbecue and I spoke to the coach later on and he congratulated me and that was pretty much how it went down."

Rocca's success means there will be three Australians in the NFL for the first time this season.

As well as Graham, Rocca will join Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl punter Mat McBriar in the NFL ranks.

Rocca will also become the sixth Australian to play in the NFL following Colin Scotts, Colin Ridgway, Darren Bennett, McBriar and Graham.

Scotts, who played defensive tackle for the St Louis Cardinals in 1987, is the only Australian to play a position other than punter.

Rocca signed a three-year non-guaranteed contract with the Eagles in January.

How's the dickhead commentator in that vid saying 'you don't see that in the AFL'.

Cock and Balls......just put 'AFL big hits' in youtube and see the first vid that comes up.

Rocca had full body protection and a helmet. I bet kozi wishes he had body armour and a hemet when he got his skull cracked by gianciracusa!! Same with Jimmy Hird v Freo.

Our boys cop it far harder than those American princesses.
