Maybe thats because gay people don't yet feel comfortable revealing their sexual identity because of fear of recrimination.

If only there was some way that a group of people, leaders if you will, could exhibit solidarity and inclusivity ...

I just read it as Forth Estate making the point that not every round needs a theme to which I 100% agree.

It was a game, not a round and If it helps a community feel more welcomed and doesn't hurt anyone, then who cares...

Although I did kind of raise an eyebrow at "Rural" round....

Found another poll that found 3.4% was gay but still pretty comfortably behind rural australians one would think.

Would tend to think ones Race is more on the objective side than one's sexuality.

It's not about a "round for everyone" though, It's about identifying which segments of our community might need a leg up or bit of encouragement to feel visible. The LBGTI community absolutely fits that profile - especially in regards to footy.

There are how many people that are "players" of footy? ABS participation rates say its at about 224,000 people. If 3% (very conservative IMO) of the population are gay that means there are nearly 7,000 footballers out there are gay! Anyone heard of them? Anyone know one? No?

Thats why we have a Pride match.

Richmond just took over 8 minutes for their first inside 50 of the match. Giants have started well.

On a side note, the Essendon v North game yesterday is the only matchup of the round between 2 Victorian sides. I couldn't imagine this would happen very often with 9 games scheduled.
