So, which is it?

There is many reasons you're 17th...just easier to summarise it in that sentence.

You two must be the Brad Scott cheer squad because judging by the media in Melbourne most of the North supporters want him gone

Yet I got told it was the topic of debate on SEN one day last week and most North supporters that called in wanted him to stay.

A heap of callers did want to stay but the poll was about 60/40 for him to go. A lot of them were still more pissed at him for his handling of Harvey than their current position.
His 4 wins from 24 games decided by a goal or less got a lot of feedback aswell

The Harvey call can not be judged until these young lads develop in to the players the Roos hope they will, If they do at all. but it seems to me getting game time in to lads now for short term pain may well be better for long term gain.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

I heard some of that discussion on SEN last week, and most callers/North fans were very supportive of Scott. Didn't realize there was a poll though.

Personally I've always thought they should have kept Harvey, but move the other 3 on. That said I don't have the same handle on the North squad that their staff and supporters would. Goldstein and Thomas both be there next year?

He has taken us to within 2 wins of a flag in 2 of the last 3 years, thats much more than Harwick, Buckley, Hinkley, Simpson, Eade have done.

He has successfully managed his way through one of the most difficult decisions any Roos coach has had to make, Harvey is still involved at the club and openly admits that he forced Brad hand by wanting an answer before finals last year.

16 games isn't enough to judge him on with this new young group, especially with 7 losses under 20 points and better % thank Freo, Hawks, GCS & Carlton.

the two prelims line gets trotted out by north fans a lot, but i think your ladder positions in those years counts for something - its not like you were clearly a top four team that didnt quite get over the line to a grand final, it is quite the opposite in that you overachieved to make a prelim.

How can you overachieve? If you finished there, that's what you deserved.

Our ladder positions counted for something? No shit. The games we won and lost dictated where we finished. Same as everybody else.

You should apply for a Channel 7 commentary job.

Probably cause it is a fact, based on the above you would say the Bulldogs "overachieved" in winning a flag after 62 years

No the record this year reflects the team that's playing this year, not the one from the last 3 years. It's a very different side.

EDIT: Didnt see you'd quoted the Bulldogs statement. Retracted.

Single elimination finals (for the most part) is how teams can run hot in Sept/Oct and overachieve to win I would think.

Winning in Perth/Sydney and beating the Hawks & Swans isn't overachieving.

Bulldogs were the best team in the finals, no doubt about that. But based on the fact that they finished 7th, its pretty clear that they werent consistently the best team over the whole year.

North were the same. Did well to make two prelims but were nothing but a middle of the road team that got the best out of themselves.

Or you could say, Brad Scott got the best out of them....

That's what finals are about, to sort out the genuine teams from the pretenders, come that first week of the finals, what you have achieved in the season means absolutely zero.

And yet north fans have consistently banged on about how much of an achievement it is to make prelims.
