Yep I would be, as long as the other clubs with higher salary caps play only the reserves, kids, and top up players

These are the "reserves" that played for the Crows against Centrals - "Thompson, Mackay, Seedsman, Gore, Knight, Obrien, Cheney, Menzel & McGovern. That's without mentioning the kids, all of which would be solid contributors if they weren't drafted and remained with their State League clubs.

All of these would be "Gun" recruits at SANFL level so to have 9 'gun" recruits running around in your team, I reckon you would be pretty happy!

Because the competition is now contrived.
There is also the "give a shit" factor. Something that we were all assured would not happen when the Crows were begging to be let in, now their coach buggers off whenever he feels like it to go watch the real Crows play. No matter what the state of the game of the actual team he is being paid to coach.

Are you serious. So your saying that the players that went out to play against Sturt actually didn't try. Abit of disrespect to Sturt isn't it. Any player does not matter if it is an AFL listed or a C7 never goes out to lose a game. I bet if you went to both the Crows reserves and Magpies players and said if you had a chance to play in a Grand Final no matter what comp would you not give a s**t and purposely lose and I bet every single player would jump at the chance to win a flag. I can guarantee your AFL career would be cut very short if the club found that you didn't try.

Paying players more money doesn't make them better players.
Better players command a higher salary, just like in any other line of work.
Having a higher salary cap enables a club to attract the better players because it can pay more.
Two teams in a league where their salary cap is significantly higher than the other teams competing in the same league, have a significant advantage over those other teams.

So would you agree a team with a salary cap 100 times greater, (or whatever the exact ratio is), than another team in the same league has an advantage. Or more to the point, do you think it is fair?

If it was all the best players on Adelaides & Ports lists then yeah its totally unfair but thats not the case. Its mainly the 2nd tier & rookie listed players that play in the SANFL.

I don't have access to the actual figures myself Cracka, but I would hazard a guess that those second tier and rookie players are also on a truckload more cash than the rest of the competition.
Are you then claiming that it would only be unfair if the wealthiest players in Australia competed in the SANFL, but seeing as the reserves, while far exceeding the salary of the top paid part time footballer in the SANFL, are not the wealthiest, then it is okay?
I am sure the SANFL regulars, while they are toiling away at their boiler-making, tile-laying, teaching, marine research, or whatever it is they must do to pay their mortgage, put food on the table and send their kids to school, are thanking their lucky stars that it is only the 2nd tier full time footballers who are being trained in the state of the art facilities, tended to by the nation's best sports doctors and taught the game by Australia's highest paid coaches, that they must play against on weekends.
Yeah, sounds COMPLETELY fair to me. Glad that the Crows fans realise that it would be totally unfair for the TOP paid players on their list to be playing in the SANFL.

So going by your theory, if someone wanted to sue a major company & can only afford a lawyer who practices part time in that particular law then the company should also only be able to have a lawyer who practices part time in that particular law instead of the 20 full time professional lawyers they usually have. Play to the competitions strengths, suburban, tribal, local, 2nd tier footy based around the next best from the AFL....simply make it the competition that players want to be part of once their AFL career finishes or stalls. And one that the grassroots footballer wants to be part of.

Imagine a comp that seriously attracted ex-AFL players and the best of the Ammo's/Country (there are thousands playing each weekend that are good enough), it would be a serious 2nd tier comp

So compete with amateur leagues on the same platforms that they base their operations? Community based, family friendly etc.

Would you be able to pay non-SA born recently delisted or retired AFL guys enough to move their families to SA?

Let's say a marquee player is currently getting $30-40,000. John Butcher, Paul Stewart, Mitch Grigg etc. What sort of coin would you need to flash in front of someone who wasn't born in SA, has no ties in SA, has never lived in SA, to move and play here at say age 24, 25 that has recently been delisted? At a guess, $80-100k plus? How many are you thinking each team would want, 2 or 3?

If you're a non-drinker, like my Mum, who takes her own food to Adelaide Oval, it's not that expensive with a 11 game season ticket.

If you're like me, a drinker, then a walk around to Alberton with 7 or 8 beers, admission and a pasty is more costly that Mum's day at AO.
