Ok lets see if I can write this better!! North and Sturt would bring in massive crowds and both are showing great form. Glenelg would also.

It was interesting that in the 2002 GF many Sturt supporters arrived after halftime, once they knew their side had a chance. Have never seen that happen at a GF before or since.

I was actually at a wedding that day and the Groom was a Sturt supporter, he actually posts on this site (Gadj1976).
He wore a scarf before and after the ceremony but was spewing he missed out on being there.

It was interesting that many dogs supporters left at 3/4 time.

True, given the way the game was going it was amazing they lasted that long *grins*
I did manage to stay to the end but, to my shame, did not stay for the presentation.

I've stayed at the presentation in each of our GF losses. Not sure what that says about me.

Probably a combination of Wedgie's quote and the fact you are a darn good sport, DW.

Well I wasn't one of them! I even watched your mob win the ressies before hand. Will admit the bus trip back to Unley was unusually quiet the whole way. someone even commented Did we loose today??????

Ha, ha. Sadly no. Might've preferred that.
I have a few drinks before the game.
But don't have another one til I get back to the Ponderosa.
Although, I must admit the year we pumped the Eagles (2004), I did spend a fair bit of time in the bar that year.

I missed a wedding so that I could be at one of the GFs.

After the service, everyone went back to the Cas to watch the game. They all saw me on screen cheering a goal. I hope the bride and groom weren't there....

lol, I must have different priorities to some but I wouldn't even consider getting married in the footy season let alone on GF day, mind you I haven't even considered getting married full stop!
Missed the North v Norwood draw for a wedding in 2003 too, one of of only 3 games we didn't lose that year!

Footy season weddings suck.

My wedding was on the first Saturday of a new year. My wife's a teacher - and that's standard for chalkies to get married around that time. I organised a bye for my cricket club that day. My team-mates were thankful - 46 degree day.

As many know here, I am (or at least was) the A Grade Scorer for West Torrens Cricket Club (current premiers - yayy!!) *grins*
Due to the overlap of seasons, the first round of Grade Cricket is now on GF weekend. Have got a little bit of a ribbing but there is no way I would miss the GF for cricket.
However, it must be hard for people involved in both a summer and winter sport to be able to pick out dates for things like weddings etc. Would have to choose a bye weekend!! *grins*

Made sure my wedding wasn't going to interfere, so made is a Saturday after the GF, but not too long after so I only missed the first couple of cricket matches. The Mrs learned pretty quickly what the priorities are!

And for the record, I think it will be Dogs v Sturt. Dogs will have 2 chances to get there you would think and you wouldn't expect them to miss out. Sturt have been the second best team thus far, and while they did produce the best football the dogs have come up against this season IMHO, I find that if a team is good during the season they're good in the finals. On that basis, it's the Dogs v the Two-Tones.

In any case, for me it will be an interesting GF so long as the dogs make it. Revenge for 2002 if its Sturt, revenge for 2006 if it's the Eagles, 95 and 96 if Port somehow manage to get there, or a new team if it's Glenelg or North, who would be the two teams dominated most in the current era of dogs success. All I ask is that no team is derailed in the finals by bad luck so we get the 2 best teams playing off, and then I just hope the dogs go in hard and contest the hard footy like 6 of the 7 GFs.
