Looks like the general concensus is that Glenelg has the least supporters in the league

So do all the other non travelling Glenelg fan's work shift as well and in your "grog shop" as well - must be bloody booming business!

Stop playing the bleeding hearts shift work card - lots of us have done it - hell I did it for 20 yrs in a far more demanding job than yours and right through the night and still went to 90% of games each year!

Now go away and practise on the worlds smallest violin to get your next excuse and sympathy tune ready!

Yeah, i find myself struggling to sleep at night

You'll actually find that i, and most other North supporters, are content in the knowledge that while we might not have been as successful as a club like Port Adelaide, we have at least been consistent and bobbed up for a premiership in each decade so far. Running out of time in this one yes but could be a lot worse, isn't that right :P

um, might want to check ya facts rod. :?

sounds like your the one that needs a sympathy hug....

this is quite boring really, demographically North have many more advantages than Western suburb clubs therefore should easily have bigger crowds...

I wasn't aware that crowd sizes compared were related to "bandwagonism" but I'd be really keen to discuss this statement further because Im intrigued.
Having only lived in Norwood, West, Glenelg and South's area in my life and having never supported those clubs am I living proof that they're bandwagon clubs?

PS Details of who has what zones is here: http://www.safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2723&hilit=zones

trying to get away from Bandwagoning talk as it bores me, of course fringe supporters are going to be more interested when their club is doing well on field, surely we should encourage that as a % will actually realise what they are missing and become more regulars...

the comment about North is their geographic position without any direct neighbouring clubs unlike western suburb clubs, advantages include less competition, more area to market and promote the club without opposition, less competition with pokie venues and located in the "pokie belt"....surely all this assists in the marketing and development of the club which I will add has done very well over the last 3-4 years....of course the club still has to get of its arse and do it (which North have done) but these things also assist...

Agreed, and Ive encountered many people who have regained a bit of interest from websites like this one and have gone from going occasionally or not going at all to going regularly and we should definately encourage it as its good for the comp.

Interesting comment about having North having less neighbouring clubs, they actually have 5 of them to their zone where the Bays only have 3 and previously had 2!
I think its pretty irrelevent, I think its purely how many people you have in a zone and maybe to a degree what age they are that may be relevent, you could even argue the reverse that if there was more clubs in one area that area should be getting saturated by more SANFL and have closer vicinity to more games thus encouraging attendance and not discouraging it.
Also interesting comment that you think North's marketing has been done very well as personally I think its been very ordinary compared to some other clubs.

BTW-I will be at Prospect next week, for every game since "2005" including pre-season trials and twos. I know of more people (Glenelg supporters) who make Prospect their game of year to go too than anyother away game. Problem being everytime Glenelg have played at Prospect, the Crows have played that night- at least since 2005- last few against Lions. (i go to both games).

Its doesnt have much to do with zones, as you said you dont live in North's zone but that doesnt stop you supporting them....zones dont stop you promoting your club in the local community, in shopping centres in your demographic area (not zones), in local papers, in commuinty groups etc etc....in these situations North arent going to get much opposition North of the CBD until you get to Elizabeth thats all Im saying..

Pretty much all the Snouts were there Wedgie, and they number more than a dozen. But you're right, there was bugger all Glenelg support outside of the Snout's enclave. There wouldn't have been a hundred of 'em. It's been that way for a few years now. I don't know why Prossy scares 'em off, myself I don't mind the place at all.

Cheers for backing us up mate, and thanks for the ride back to the Glenelg Football Club that night since no other Snouts were going back.

Oh do I hear the cries of "bandwagon talk is boring" and the even more plaintive "leave us alone" coming from Bays fans of all people?
Talk about glass bloody houses, if you don't like the return then don't serve the bloody thing. Simple as that. I don't think a week goes past where there isn't some comment made by a Bay's fan about bandwagonners from Sturt.
This healthy little debate was in fact begun by a comment by a Bays fan, or did some of you forget that as you were concentrating on playing your violins so much?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

The bandwagon stuff doesn't bother me...have missed about 10 games in the past 5 years, so my wagon was already to roll !
