Sure he did - needs to plan training and conditioning workload leading into game, recovery after, timeframes etc. and obviously nutrition side of things.

You don't see many fat Chinese people, where's the problem?

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Over the period of 9 months sure, but it's not like he would've dedicated all his time to it or even anywhere near half his time - would've just been a bit here and there at a guess.

Nah, whuffer is right, our high performance manager didn't need to get involved with us sending our squad to China for a game. Should mind his own business.

Go there and visit and make sure it ticks all the boxes but surely they would have advisors over there who could make better decisions for them.
Not sure Burgo's mandarin would be up to scratch either.

Going there that many times does sound excessive to me.

At the end of the day if they beat Gold Coast all will be forgotten and it'll all have been worth while!
Lose and it'll be a different story...........

I sure hope it's recorded somewhere, hate to know you're laying awake and night, wondering......

**** me, not even sure your little UK mate or Dutchy could come up with this bullshit.

I'm amazed anyone still hates Port. :D

Got a feeling this trip could derail Port and Gold Cost this year. Nothing to go on, just a hunch.

When you can't beat top 8 sides, REB, this China trip isn't going to derail anything.

The bigger picture mate, the bigger picture here, it's a measure to help secure our off field future. Yes, I know, I know, losing a game or missing finals because of it will be a massive LOL for all the knockers, but those knockers might need to be clever enough to remember when they shit canned us for being a basket case in the board room. I doubt it, they'll continue to be knockers, either way.

There is no bigger picture than making finals. Potentially sacrificing this for $ is not ideal.
In saying that, if you have a good win, and it does not affect your next performance (you have the bye straight after right?), and you make a tonne of money from it, then it's brilliant!

Don't get me wrong, Boon, I think the China initiative is a fantastic.

My point being- one win/loss in China will not cost us a finals spot. Our inability to beat top 8 sides will.

Making finals is seemingly pointless if your just making up the numbers, however this is the season I feel that the premiership will come from left field.

St. Kilda @ 21's is a nice tempter, they are capable of repeating what the Doggies did last season.

I expect Port to win this week. There's a lot of negativity coming from Rodney Eade and that spreads like wildfire. I know this is an important game at many levels for the Pear but first and foremost still has to be the 4 points.

Probably not, but as you said previously, if you can't beat a top 8 team there's no point in being there, the soft draw only makes you look stupid in the end.

On the same token, is this years draw the most helpful it's been for those that finished in the top 8? With the demise of Hawthorn, Sydney and North it seems favourable, unless they've just been on the arse end of their previous success?

Eade's a deflector. I can't believe Gold Coast are at $3.10.
